150 in my 68 mazda a few years ago. Needed the full 2 lanes to keep it on the road, was floating all over the joint. Find out what the rolla can do in a few weeks at queensland raceway, won't get up to top speed though.

Hi,
My best friends Jauar XJ-S (V12)- 230km/h heading towards the airport. The car was still accelerating... We could still talk at normal volume with the Chilli Peppers playing....
Mazda 808 with a 13B turbo - ~160 km/h along Sandy Bay road just before the beach at 2 in the morning. Hobart locals will understand how SCARY that would be!
ZX6 - a bit over 200 km/h as the pillion
My Celica with the 2TG - a touch less than 200km/h
My uncles EH with a HQ race engine with triple Webers and Celica steel case g'box - 210km/h (aftermarket speedo) and still accelerating before we ran out of road.
70 km/h on my rollerblades coming down the Southern Outlet . Their was six of us, with a car in front in case we needed to stop (run into it), and a car behind filling both the lanes so no one would get to close to us. The Southern Outlet has a 80km/h speed limit so we didn't hold anyone up

Hehe, I did 155kmh (possibly less) in my old Escort PanelVan out the highway to the HObart airport, down one of the hills...Doesn't seem like much, but the poor old thing was a 1.6 with a 4 speed and 4.3:1 diff (with tiny low pro 13" rollerskate tyre/wheel combo), so thats about 7500rpm in top, stuff was falling out from under the dash, couldn't talk to the passenger over the noise (used to drown out the poxy radio at 90kmh), and directional stability was a little sketchy...By contrast I can go through the same area off the (200kmh) clock in the skyline and its quiet, smooth, and totally stable...
But 160kmh up sandy bay road? nuts...

Hi,
smt 007 we were not holding on to the back of the car. The Southern Outlet is a 4 lane (2 lanes each way) road that leads out of Hobart to Kingston. It was down hill the whole way for us! At the bottom it goes slightly uphill so we stopped just before the lights.
The Sandy Bay experience was NOT fun. I was SCARED for my life... I was not impressed by my friend at all .
Cheers,
Justin

Hey Guys,
On my bike Kawasaki ZX7R - 303KPH down M5
In my Supra, well the needle was past the 180 and pulling hard, dunno what the speed is when the needle is touching the fuel odometer reset toggle.
BTW my bike has been bored out to 813cc and has a K&N filter kit as well as being Jetted with over size fuel needles..... Running slighter bigger rear cog now but when i did the speed run it was tiny.....
I will not ever attempt to reach the above mentioned speeds again on my bike on the open road......
Mike
P.S
I stand 6'6 and weight 104 KGS (bike weighes 220 wet)

There is no sensor in the spedo that causes the speedcut. its part of the computer and will need a speed cut defender fitted to remove it. The APEXi RSM has this funtion built in and is an easy way to do this.
The comment on speedos being inacurate is true. Most cars would be out by around 10km/h at 200km. The higher the speed the less acurate they are.
Get a GPS unit to tell true speed.

I'm 21 and I don't feel bullet proof. I have 4 points against my license, and 'cuz I was a slow ass getting onto my Ps, I am still on them so I only have 1 point before they can take my license away! I'm sure once I get onto my full license I will start to ride up around 160kph again. Although, my car gets very drifty up that fast. It's an interesting experience in anticipating what the car is going to do at that speed in a Bone Stock Lancer CB.

crap!
and I thought my 8 hours, from epping (syd) to ringwood (melb) was good! (for you non-melb people - takes longer to get to ringwood than to the gpo... with my melbourne navigation skills anyhow)
of course I went past 2 radar guys on the way, so I was being cautious
for city driving - epping to the airport and back in under an hour (closer to 40 minutes actually - but that might give away my speeds). not using the M2, and including parking at the airport, springting into the terminal, asking a question of the girl at the departures desk, then sprinting back to my car

i'm sorry, but the aw11 mr2 does have a speed sensor in the speedo that can be moved out of the way. this diagram of the instrument cluster shows it there.
i have read about it on a few different aw11 sites as well. if you cut the wire the check light will stay on, but if you move the sensor outta the way you go faster.....

I drove from my place (Moulamein) to Swan Hill the other evening for the staff dinner in 26 mins. That was a fast trip.
It's 70k's if you don't know that drive.
I got there and had 3 beers before another teacher turned up and her husband said straight away "you drive too fast" I thought i must have overtaken them or something. They saw me come out the driveway and they said they got up to 125km/h and gave up. I was doing WAY over that.
So I pulled the time to drink 3 stubbies over 70km's

The fastest i have driven was was 165km/h.. that was scary, charades weren't built to go that fast. The fastest i have been as a passenger was actually in england in a rex sti and we hit 160mph. MEGA TUNNEL VISION!!! drive safe

I got my st184 upto 143kph one night. That's by my speedo and the radar gun on the side of the cop car. Damn my luck. First time i'd ever been over 115kph in my life and a cop had to be going the other way. I had just bought her and thought I would see how she would go. Haven't tried since. Costs too much and I'm pretty sure I'm still cursed.

In the camira :- 190 on grass.
Ke70 panel van:- 175 downhill
Ae82 4age :- 190 on the first day i got it racing a mate in a 323 turbo from claremont to granton on the brooker highway in tassie(in traffic)
then a month later i tried to better it and got 196 but the fcken thing lacked the torque to pull in 5th so it was limiting in 4th(consequentley that night i blew the head gasket)
mazda rx7 s2:- 210... right on the end of the speedo heading through fingal valley on the way to st helens on tassies east coast then on the return trip got busted fot 148 in a 60 zone...luckily the cop didnt want to get wet in the rain writing me a ticket cos he let me go!!!!!.
Ke70 sedan:- 4kc 180 k's
after the swap....3tc guestimated to be about 220 k's (not a stock motor)
r31 skyline..only about 160 so far(its only new to me)
they were all my cars
88 kays on my mountain bike on the tasman bridge at 3 in the morning... i had an electronic speedo calibrated to the mm of wheel circumference.
Vx clubbie 250 kays
vy ss ute about 220
just some ive driven
and a passenger in a ford gt40 at about 170 down conrod straight when being used as a public road (actually did a lap of the racing line)

Thats the fastest i know ive been. BTW, toyota overstate their speedos up at those speeds.. it was reading at 195 @ fuel cutoff, im not the only one thats noticed this either
|
Yeah your right, either the people that have said over 180 have a speed/fuel cut defender, aftermarket computer or their talking bullshit.
|
come for a drive with me, i'll show you that mine cuts at 195kmp/h..
cant wait to pull my speedo apart and get rid of the sensor thats in there.
|
as i said, the speedos are out up there.. put it on a dyno and you'll only be doing 180.

GAWDDAMN thats impressive!!!
Stock 'Busa'sdont even touch 300kph anymore.
|
Note he said small rear cog at the time. Depending on how much smaller than factory speedo could have been off by a lot.
My mate had a 7R with stock gearing (was an ex race engine though) and it would see 270. Thats pretty impressive still.
My CBR600F4i has seen about 210 in 4th gear. Still have 5ht and 6th to go!!!
