Re: 1GGTE engine for reco Mon, 29 July 2002 01:46 Go to previous messageGo to next message
the main difference is that the dizzy has long leads, and a gap for which the spark, or eletrical charge has to cross. The direct fire type just has a sensor which gives a signal to the ecu to fire an igniter, which then triggers the coils to fire the spark plug. The coil is directly linked to the spark plug either by a short lead, or is directly over the spark plug, ie direct fire coils. The energy required to jump a spark across two gaps, like the dizzy type ingnition is greater, and if you use a dizzy, then you only have one coil, and one iginter usually, so this has more load on it, so to be able to precisely fire the spark plug, as to avoid detonation, etc.... is harder to control.
Another question.......... What is a Zorst Manifold?? is it a custom one??

Cheers Nilezy

...i understand all that...however this engine WAS a dizzy type...from what i have been told all 1GGTE's were dizzy type..
i cant see what the difference is as this is a bare long engine
a "zorhst manifold" is slang for exhaust manifold..sangroper talk
lol
