86 - LEVIN VS. TRUENO !?
|

Which one you personally like?
Yes levin and trueno are the same car... ae85/ae86
But there is always a difference... "the front"
So what do you prefer pop-up or no pop-up lights????
Pointy? or Rounder head? both with a round back..heh heh
1) Levin ?
2) Trueno ?

whats the diff in coefficient drag 4 the two models ?
i figure if the difference is high enough in favour of the trueno you can always redirect airflow ...

it all comes down to personal taste.
i dont mind the levin at all, but if it's a trueno, it has to be a Kouki Trueno.
it is true that the trueno has less airflow, but unless you're running some sort of turbo, with a FMIC, then who gives a toss? it's not like it makes any difference to engine temps.
my trueno still sits right on the specified mark on my digital dash, and i'm happy with that...

I would have to go with levin as I think the trueno looks kinda out of proportion or maybe the nose is just to pointy, but I wouldnt mind one as they look different.

I disagree, I think the ae86 looks too "A shaped" on the side profile with a levin front..
with a trueno, it's fast back shape is more noticable. However, the kouki levin is really nice (especially with the black trimming round the headlights, and the letter box style grill).
this is what I reckon, in terms of best, to least best..
and kouki levin.
zenki trueno...
kouki trueno...
zenki levin.
In terms of trueno having less air flow, who gives a rats arse. IF you are going turbo, nothing a front mount intercooler, and maybe a larger fan can't fix..
Or better yet, maybe some of those reverse style bonnet scoop bonnets!!!!
rock on.

Personally, AE86's don't do much for me, for interests sake though, if its a coupe I like the Levin, but in the hatch I definetly like the Trueno better.

Whats an A6X coupe?????
And the thinner lights with black trimming on the Kouki Levin's. Do they have different front guard/fenders to the Zenki?

No they do not have different guards/or fenders from the zenki.
Same with kouki and zenki truenos.

Wasnt sure, I orignally didnt think so but when I saw more and more pictures, the lights being slimmer seemed to make it seem like the whole profile was just a little sharper.
Well I guess that is good news since all I need is lights then!

Those lights are real rare.. way rarer than the grills.
Some dude in shepperton down here has got a complete set from a front cut.. he wanted like $600-$700 for the grill and all the kouki lights.

I spoke to a guy in New Zealand where both are readily avaialable.
He reckons that levins are more populer with the 'track orientated' enthusiasts. Also with the cruisy day time people.
The trueno's are more popular with the street racers, and night time boys. And younger people too.
To me, levins look pretty "classy".
Truenos just look "slick and cool".
rock on.

The pop-up lights. Do you believe that they disturb the aerodynamics that greatly?

Levin leaves the night after cutting ringies with no diff noises while the Trueno's diff makes noises like a dying Giraffe after a mere hills run

To be honest, ill be greedy and say i want both
I own a Levin, and with the right visual upgrades can look better than a trueno imo, but, who cant resist a panda trueno with watanabes
If i HAD to decide, id say Levin, cuz parts are a tad cheaper, and coming from a drifting point of view, its better to have access to cheaper parts, but still, the parts arent CHEAP!
I found that out the hard way courtesy of Skippy the bouncing out in front of me on Gorge Road kangaroo

in all honesty, I reckon the panda job looks pretty good from the front and the sides..
but makes the back look boxier..
from the rear a standard color scheme makes the car look curvier
