hey guys,
i was wondering if you could give me a short, very brief list of every possible mod i could do to my 2tg ta22 to increase performance(without changing significant bits of the engine or bolting something on ie a turbo or supercharger) . probably sounds like a stupid question, but im pretty much just interested in learning all the different things i can do, im certainly not thinking of spending all my money on them all . the things i know about: sportier cams, sportier carbies, lightened flywheel, shaved head, changing the crank and pistons etc, um different exhaust, brakes/suspension etc, weight reduction, extractors, port and polish. um, are there any other feasible things you can do to increase performance, even little tweaks? thanks guys.

Well basically to improve the performance of your car you need to go down to your local autobarn or supercheap auto, they have everything you need.
The first thing you'd want to pick up is a set of TRD stickers... If you want to jump the modest power gain of the TRD stickers, you can go all out and buy a pair of NOS ones... they go on the front quarter panels just behind the wheel arches.
Whack a wing on the back some checkerplate in the footwells and you've got a 12 second car regardless of make and model. Oh, some chrome hubcaps help a little too.

and now 4 a serious reply...
it all depends upon how much youd esire to spend
3tgte wouldnt be a bad start if you can find the whoel engine package
turbo and modest power in base form
not sure on costs yet imagine that 4 under $5k youd get the covnersion inc brakes etc and be a very happy man
cummon sillicar guys
where art thou 2 help one of oyur own kind ?

theres not many *tweaks* but your best bet would be to whack some webers and an some extractors, and get some cam work done

sleeka got it in one - better cams , better exhaust , better fuel delivery , and better spark ..
the solexes are ok - but you may have issues having them rebuilt . Webers are expensive but you can get parts readily for 40's and 45's
Longer duration cams with higher lift will give the biggest improvement - at the expense of smoothness ( lumpy cams - wobbly fun )
youd need to match your ignition curve to the cam - which meand electronic dizzy setup - or rebalancing the one you have .. Ask rod try on this one - he knows what to do
Decent extractors are the cheapest mod to bolt up without changing things .. help the head flow and gain a few free ponies from what you have .
Outside of porting , polishing and stroking .. thats about all you can do

You could also go as far as bolting on the efi gear, but a well tuned set of carbies is as good and sounds awsome. EFI is for people like me who can't tune a carbie to save their lives.

allright thanks boys,
i dont really understand the stuff about balancing the cams...:s i thought you just bolted the new ones in...ill come back to them i think. does lightening the flywheel give you a noticable increase in performance?
with the carbies...do i just go to say autobhan and buy a set that fit to my car? do 45's deliver the best peformance regardless of the model car? or do i need to check what webbers suit my car best? if/when i buy and fit the carbies, do i then need to go and get them tuned by a carbie specialist? btw it has twin carbies coz its a 2tg, i probably just insulted your knowledge.
allright, with extractors, do i just go to an exhaust place and say, i want extractors for this car...and theyll order them in and so forth and bolt them in? or, do i have to do a bit of research and find out the best exhaust and extractor setup etc?
thanks for the help (y)

if u want to save a bit of money u could probably pick up the extractors and webers here for a little bit less, but in my experiance if u want new just go to a performance shop they should be able to supply both carbs and extractors, they will have to orderthem in most probably.
Also i think if u get 45 webers they bolt straight up to the solex manifold?? correct?
