corona vs calibra Wed, 26 November 2003 11:02 Go to next message
coming up to a intersection today, i was sittingin the right lane, as the light went green a late model calibra went past me at speed {40 or so}, so i gunned it behind him, his lane ended so he pulled in front, we went round a roundbaout just after, i fanger it a little to let him know i'm a hoon Rolling Eyes , we then rolled onto the on ramp to the M1, this on ramp has a very sharp left on it {very slow} as he rounded the corner he gunned it, as did i when i rounded the corner, he had a small head start so he pulled away, i thought fuck it, but since i had to accelerate for the highway i kept into it.

since i cant hear shit over my zorst and twins, i couldnt hear him still fanging it, but i could see the black smoke, so i knew he was goin it, when i hit 2nd i pulled up on him like he hit the skids, but was still going it {smoke still}, as we got on the h'way he got into the rigth lane and planted it.
I dont h'way race, so i said fuck it, let him go.

i was happy Very Happy

Heh heh. Yeah, me and my mate went for a little fully loaded cruse on the freeway back when we where both in our parents cars (Excell and a Berina). We got up about 130-140, and thats fast for those hunks of junk.

Anyway, ya can't do that these days. To many traffic cameras on the freeway down in Melbourne *sigh*.

Calibras arent fast, the auto models use the same engine as the EFI Camiras. The manual Twin Cam models wont even crack 15's.

I take it the one you raced didn't have that hideous body kit, otherwise you would have had to run it off the road to put the poor guy out of his misery Smile The dents would be worth it though Smile

My mum has a dead standard 4X4 Calibra and they aren't very quick. 0-100 in 7.0 - 7.5 depending on whos driving

They are a bit quicker in the UK as they aren't boost limited in 1st gear.

But they were designed as a Bahn Stormer with six speed gear boxes makin a 240-250kph top speed.

The 4 cylinder ones we got in Australia are shitboxes and the 6 cylinders are ok.

A mate of mine recently purchased a calibra at the auctions, he didn't really even know what he was buying but bid for it because it was going cheap.

turbo,6speed,AWD,full leather interior, $9500

I havent seen it yet but a mate that I trust says that it is surprisingly quick 0-100 and that it does 180kmh in 4th without revving it to buggery.

unfortunately he wasn't paying attention to his gauges when a radiator hose went.
