how well do xbox hold up in cars

I imagine pretty well. If you mount it well it should be fine. I havent actually done it, but I have transported my xbox many places in cars on the bus etc, and have never had a problem resulting from that.
Plus some cars come with them installed.

I remember reading an article ages ago about someone that installed one into their car. It was hooked up to an LCD screen which came out of the dash and they used it for mp3s. Cost a lot all up but somehow they actually hid that huge box somewhere.

You would be wanting to change the hdd from a 3.5 to a 2.5 inch.

It would probably have something to do with the smaller drives being able to handle knocks and vibrations

Thats abit silly. I'm going to be having my 60GB mp3 player hooked into my car, and I can actually remove it from it so putting more info onto it won't require a laptop or driving my car into my house to hookup a network cable

Mate, 20m of Cat 5, and you could park your car on the street and hook it up to your PC.

You could probably put together a standard PC at about the same size as an X-Box.

I had a standard pc in my car. Just did a very basic case mod and it had a boot of time of 17 seconds. Worked fine handled the bumps e.t.c well. I believe most hard drives are capable of 50G or 150G's . On my seagate it said so. I'm not sure about the statistics. weather its impact of just force. But i'm damn sure the hdd will hold up fine. Otherwise i'm sure an xbox will survive in a car. Same with a computers.

thats non operating 150g's for seagates (due to rubber thing thay have on them, the 2.5 inch drives are designed for laptops thus runing with change of angles and bumps

The VIA motherboard/CPU combo's are good for a car, small footprint, low power requirements, fanless.
