hey!
i bought my pierburg pump of that bloke for like $40!
that whole engine bay is blue now and i think he has a bigger turbo now.
fkn neat car though - veeeerrrrry jealous!
and i'm putting a 1UZFE in my Datsun 240C, i have to scallop the crossmember and convert to rack and pinion steering to make the bitch fit.
have seen a couple of 2JZGTEs in AE86 sprinters, one was a jap street car running low 9s.

so i recon in few months it will be popular conversion
its not hard but not a 2 day job
its a nice tight fit
prob easier than the 1j or 2j
but depends on equipment or how much money you have

v12 jag motor - its a great engine with a lot of potential..but they use too much fuel. Dad has one, and we're selling it because off too much to run. i doubt a big block ford would use more.

the 5.3L found in the xj12/ soverign are not so bad. Only problemm is fuel rails bursting because of the long-term effects of heat

if you look at your engine often enough you notice the rubber hoses cracking. Leave them and be negligent and they burst. And there is one hell of a fire on your hands. Write your car off.
These engines run very hot, as there is also so much cramped into a small bay...so that doesnt help wear and tear on the hoses.

I've been seriously considering doing this conversion but into a 240/260Z which would probably be almost identical.
Can you give some more details, any pics. What stage are you up to?

are you 400ZED?
no fucking way are they identical dude.
the 240Z has a skinny little crossmember, macpherson strut front end and, from memory, rack and pinion steering.
my 240C has recirc ball steering (which has to be changed to VB commodore rack shortened 50mm each end - with it's own crossmember), a big fuck off crossmember (how's 325mm wide and 97mm high sound.... ) that needs to be scalloped about 100mm and above all an 'a' arm front end (kingswood style). but don't think for a second that i have any kind of room to play with. the exhaust ports point directly at the chassis, the steering link needs serious modification and i need to notch the chassis to let the link rotate at less that 42deg (uni joints... )
taking pics tonite though dude. in the meantime....

I was only thinking of something exceedingly long to fit intp something fairly short. Of course you could fit a viper V10 into a MR2, transversley of course. As for elec problems, you wouldn't fit the "Prince of darkness" electrics with it.

I wouldnt mind getting my hands on a 1G-GZE 2.0L s/c engine to fit in my KE55..I reckon that would be pretty sweet and a bit out of the ordinary!
I know its been a known replacement for RA** and TA** celicas, but I havent seem any information on a KE** conversion...
Can anyone shed any light on this???

Rollas have shorter engine bays than Celicas, so fitting a 1G will probably require moving the radiator and other complications. I'm sure it's been done though!

ask that same question next time your gearbox blows up. or you could convert to another box. hmm, then youve gone from probs gze, sourced manifolding, a turbo, aftermaket efi, custom clutch and bellhousing arangement.. seems like alot of trouble just so it still says toyota on your cam covers.

well let's see
3s-gte vs sr20
both very tough, both puts out stacks of power, toyota one can handle more power on stock internals.
1jz vs rb25det
1jz takes a large dump on it
2jz vs RB26dett - both the ultimate. my preference would actually be for the (please dont hurt me guys) RB26, as it's very revvy, and I love revvy engines.
of course, the 2jz doesn't cook it's coil packs as often, makes more low down torque, and with the extra 0.4L of displacement is easier to get massive power figures out of.

Don't forget the 3SGTE doesn't have rocker arms The only thing some of the Nissan engines have going for them is more aftermarket gear...mainly due to the number of cars sold with them.
I agree that the revviness of the RB26 is legendary, but I've got a video of a non-vvti Mk4 Supra making a GTR driver cry around a circuit, about even around corners but the torque of the 2JZ through the mid-range was killing the GTR out of them.

It wasn't such a twisty circuit, was an R33 too, the 4WD is only so much on an advantage, the Supra is a very well setup RWD car, its better balanced than GTR and it weighs less.
The GTR driver didn't suck, the circuit had quite a few larger turns where the Supra was able to exploit its good balance and get on the power.
Why does everyone hold the GTR as some super invincible car that no one can beat?
