i lined up at the lights today and almost lost to an echo;
4age ae86 (bluetop)
stock except intake and full exhaust.

is that normal? cos it is embarassing considering that the echo driver weighs 25kgs more than me and his car is standard.

i know 4age's aren't exactly fast.. but i challenged him when i had my 4ac and its just as fast from 0-120.

performance above 120kms isn't too bad though.. can extractors really make that sort of difference? i've been told that 4-2-1 is good for mid-range, whereas 4-1 is good for top end.

Echo 1.5L VVT vs a Sprinter 1.6L TVIS

Both weighing the same.

Ugh , dare I say a near even match if both have had the same work done to them?

I believe rwd car tend to loose more power to due drive train issues, it sux but theres not much you can do about it.

Im led to believe extractors on 4age are only required if you chasing big numbers, stock 4-2-1 manifold is good for 180-200hp.

I think i read that on Bill Sherwoods site.

Sounds like my car and yours are the same and im only making 55rwkw, with a original rwd bluetop motor (apparently 96kw), so go figure.

Which echo was it? hatch 1.3? Sportivo hatch 1.5? or a sedan 1.5?

I have no trouble ripping 1.3 hatches. They stand no chance. wheras the 1.5 is a little tricky its about 75 to 80kw. I only ever dragged one sportivo and i only won by about a length. They're pretty quick cars.

it's not so bad afterall. i just had to get used to driving it differently with the 4age. the exhaust was also too big which caused a noticable lack of torque below 5000rpm.
as for the echo, i think it's a 1.5L.. i ran him again for the sake of proving a point and won easily. Rolling Eyes
not much to brag about, but i had a good time harassing those stupid skylines and holdens on the weekend with my cousin's evoIII.. 12sec. cars are fun to drive Very Happy
