hey guys, i need some one who knows to tell me if a distributor from an early big port will work on a small port.

ive been looking for a small port engine, and have found one, but its missing its dizzy. would just like to know, as itll make it alot easier to shop for dizzys if any 16v one will do.

the dizzy is driven off the cam huh? i cant recall there being 2 part no.'s for aftermarket cams, so i guess theyre the same?

how much should i pay for one?

anyone got one Smile ?

cheers guys.

edit- if you do have one, mail me at anthonyroumeliotis@hotmail.com. or pm me. im in brisbane too, but if youre willing to ship..

I have a late model 86kw bigport and a 100kw smallport. The dizzies are different. The guts under the rotor button are quite different, one's coil and the other is nippondenso, one has 8mm leads the other has 5mm leads. Haven't had them physically out of the engine yet so I can't tell you whether they are interchangeable. Haven't compared associated wiring but can if you want me to.

thanks for that, i just found out that the distributor cap on the 100kw 4age i just bought has a huge hole melted in it from the extractors. think i need some heat shielding.

All the 4AGs I have seen have a heat shield for use with a standard exhaust so I think it would be essential to have one with extracors. If you can't get one from a wrecker you might be able to get one from Toyota.
