Petrol Prices

Basically the news says that due to the stronger aussie dollar as well as intrest rates and crap. Oil prices should be gonig down for us and petrol should be getting cheaper.
Today filling up I noticed it was higher from normal , and frankly I'm getting sick of getting overcharged for my petrol
Discuss.

yeah I reckon, if the dollar gets weak, the price of petty takes a hike, if it gets strong, they just leave it.
and that doesn't even begin to tell how irritated I am. I dont' even care now, I just pretty much fill up when I get empty. I am over caring.

No, that was Tran and his mates. They where talking about their missing engines in their three civics (even though one of them was an Integra) and said something along the lines of "A coupe of SR20 engines would be hot property two weeks before Race Wars". Yeah I was thinking that it was a bit odd to buy three totaly different Honda's (~1998 civic, ~1995 civic, 1993+ Integra) and all of them to have SR20s...?

As long as nobody tries the dodging under the truck thing. Semi's - real Semi's - don't have enough room under them for that.
...Now where do we get 3 honda civics?

you pay 12c a litre less for fuel that is a week old, and then they fill the tanks up and you pay 12c more - for the same fucking fuel.
fucking ridiculous. they're just profit grabbing before prices go down.

the petrol stations pay a lot more per litre than you. its caltex/shell that then subsidise the costs during the week.

That's very right. This is why we have the fluctuations in the prices. If there is not subsidy from the petrol companies (that's when the price of fuel goes up part of the week), the servo's have got to make a buck out of something. Selling packets of "Corn Flakes" doesn't do enough for them.

I just filled my Corolla with LRP (or Leaded) petrol, and I paid 92.9c/Ltr... (unleaded was 89.9c and premium unleaded was 93.9) which, in Queensland (specifically the Bris/Gold Coast area) is frickin ridiculous! Normally, unleaded fuel would go for between 79c-82c/Ltr and leaded around 82c-85c/ltr.. the government better pull their fuckin fingers out sooner rather than later..

Yeah, the government HAVE to pull their finger out- out of the pie, that is. While they're reaping close to 50% of the retail price in excise I don't think anything will get done about it. I was told at one piont in time that it costs about 5c/l to pull oil from the ground and refine it into ULP.

i kind of agree on this
i worked in a caltex servo for about a year
the goods int eh store make more money per item(as a percentage of cost price and the sale price)
BUT money on fuel is made(not much at that) by selling sheer volume!
i think on average about a cent a litre is made per litre over the week
not much really.

$2.90 for a 600ml Coke
$1.13 for a 1.25lt at wollies next door.
$4.10 for a 1.25lt same servo.
Theres a nice markup.

but the government cant do jack when it comes to regulating petrol prices...the oil companies own the petrol, petrol stations, tankers...pretty much anything connected to selling/transporting petrol. 1 country cant stand up the the might of the multinationals.
There was a story about the price hikes on the news and they interviewed the ceo (or something) of caltex and all he said was something like "petrol is a profitable business atm" The oil companies dont give a shit cos they know theres nothing that can be done about it.
But with that said i do agree with conquest. Where is all the excise money going? ffs i can think of at least 20 or so roads that i regularly use that are in desperate need of repair and thats only a small portion of whats out there. Where is the money going? prolly into the lining the pockets of the bureaucracy

Apparently not. Did you know the Federal goverment will earn an estimated $13 billion plus from fuel excise this year, yet they will spend less than $2 billion on roads. Also state and federal road funding has not increased in the last 10 years or so.
