rebuild yours man. At least you know what you have got then! I just spent $2200 to fully rebuild my 7mge (yeah i know - "i coulda had a 2nd hand 7mgte") - Thats new bottom end bearings, new piston rings, new fully rebuild head...vrs kit toyota. Many, Many new parts. New timing belt, new drive belts...
Come on dude if you're confident/ willing to learn, rebuild it yourself!! Pm me if you want info on specific parts cost etc...as i have a fair indication now

well thats exactly why i want to get a second engine, to rebuild it and learn.
but i don't want to be out of action for too long, so it'd be awesome to have a nice ready to go engine to drop striaght in and rebuild my current one, then when that breaks down, swap over again and fix the bad one.
so i'll take you up on your offer, expect alot of pm's sometime this year.
