im looking to put either a 4AGZE or a 3SGTE in my TA22 celica and i was wondering if i could get some info from a person who has completed this conversion? ie. which one will involve more work and cost and which one will give me the best outcome for my TA22. Any thoughts appreciated

I had the same choice, and i went the 3SGTE.
The car was finished but the CT26 turbo shit
it self on the Dyno and damaged my motor so now
im rebuilding the engine.
I've spent so much money on my conversion im
realy hoping it'll be worth it. Not mentioning
the headaches.
The 4AGZE would be so much easier its not funny.
I had to modify everything in my Sprinter: from
engine and gearbox mounts, starter, custom plenum,
fire wall even the heater box had to be cut and plastic
welded cause of the dizzy.
If you can afford the 3SGTE route, mine is costing
$15000 plus not including the car, then i would
suggest finding a professional welder thats done
conversions before and good luck cause you'll
need it.
Otherwise go with the 4AGZE, much, much easier,
less headaches, lighter, way cheaper.
But i couldnt resist the 2L 3SGTE. You have to ask
your self what you realy want.

Look in the tech artciles. Theres a great article on putting the 4AGE into TA22's. Theres also a couple that detail putting the 4AGZE into RWD's, mainly AE86's. I think the main problem is the supercharger fouling on things - been a while since I looked at it though.
I would like to do a 4AGZE conversion to a TA22 one day and wouldn't even look at the 3SGTE as this conversion is real bitch, as has already been posted by John.
Also, the 4AGZE keeps the 1600cc capacity, just like a TA22 should be.
Hope that helps.

The 3S-GTE really isnt that hard to do now. There are a few people on here which have done it and others who are doing it, so there is lots of info available.
The dizzy problem is really easy to fix and everything else is just the same as every other conversion.

Are you moving the dizzy to the front Cool1 or going aftermarket ECU?

The dizzy is staying on the back but with the cap and rotor removed. I'll be using the pickups and a DLI converter to fire some coil packs.
