My brother brought this back from Japan. I took it to Garret at Morebank and they said that it had "some shaft noise" and would probably cost around $500 to get it rebuilt. They also said it should be good for upto about 300hp. So I'm guessing it would be good on a 4A, 3T, or maybe 1G.

The plate on it says its a 2530 (picture blurred), and the exhaust housing has .64 stamped into it.

Comes with everything shown in the pictures and is not assembled.

Reason for selling: My brother is in Japan and left the turbo here. He originally got it to put on his 3T KE20, but I sold that a week or so ago so he doesn't need it anymore.

$500 ono. Can come look/feel/spin if you are serious about buying it.

yeah. apparently you can't buy off the shelf kits to just rebuild them. you have to buy whole new internals.

So Garret turbos were wrong. I'll go tell them that.

been told by other people. you can't just buy off the shelf replacement parts for BB turbo's. you have to get whole new internals.

I think you'll find to rebuild a ball bearing turbo, not only do you need a seal and bearing kit (around $250-300), but also a new core ($950ish) plus labour to assemble and rebalance. You can do it at home by simply marking the axle in relation to the compressor wheel, but this is not always accurate. I don't mean to show anyone up, if this info is erroneous to the application, let me know?

I'll let Garret know they no nothing about BB turbos. If they still say they can fix it I'll slap them and say that people that have never done it before told me it can't be done.

Thanks for ruining my thread, hope you have a shit day Smile

And thus ruined my thread.

Your "other people said" vs my "Garret Turbochargers in morebank said" has ruined this thread, and my chances of selling this turbo to other toymodders.

What I should do is pay the $500 to fix it and then throw the turbo through your windscreen.

Well, Garret pulled it appart today and found it was a rusted bearing that was making the noise.

It will be repaired for much less than the quoted $500.

So I'm sorry but you guys have missed out on a bargain deal.

This turbo is now SOLD

SupraBOY, give it a rest for Christ's sake. Obviously it didn't need a rebuild but a repair. The extent of the repair is what is in question here, and without you seeing or pricing it, you sound like a sore loser in this case? Can someone lock this thread so we don't see a continuim like other threads degenerate too please? Congrats on the sale Pete!

i'm not a sore looser. he should have been more honest in the first place and given an exact reason what was wrong with the turbo.

he hasn't really sold it. he's just saying he has.

OK this thread is being locked, the sale is done apparently so there's no reason to keep an active for sale thread going in order to have an argument.

If the last part of this post was serious then I don't see why you guys are taking shots at each other.
