HSV seat into MA61 Tue, 03 February 2004 08:04 Go to next message
ok, this may sound REALLY weird, but I've decided that the HSV holden seats are very, very, very comfy.... can anyone think why they wouldn't fit in an ma61? I've never actually seen underneath one of these, so I have no idea on rail mountings etc

The MA61 has is *fairly* wide interior, so maybe that wouldn't be a problem. It would really depend on how you could modify the mounts on the underside of the seat.

Surely there are other seats which are much more comfortable and not quite so large. Most motoring magazines complain the seats are made for a "larger" gentleman in hard driving...and you are far from large dude Razz

Or you can go the total opposite way and find aftermarket seats that fit me like a glove (probably a similar build to you) but don't fit tubby mofo's like BlackSupra Razz

they look good (OBX)

i've got fixed SAAS buckets they where like $400 each though Razz

and you would need some fancy wiring to hook up the full electric adjustable hsv seats the newer ones (vx/vy hSV) cost something silly like $2000 a piece Razz (so ive been told)

how hard is it to find some new supra seats (jz)

hmmm i love the ma61 seats, i wouldn't swap them...

but draven, if you want measurements or anything on HSV seats- my dad has a VT HSV Senator so i can help you out if you like.

Personally I prefer the MA61 seats, and im only a weed, i just cant get over the adjustable huggy bits on the sides....wow...

but yeah i can help you out if you'd like. i like the way theres two hsv keys, and each one has its own seat position built into the memory- ie one key, one position, use hte other key, and have a different position.

Agreed. My seats are looking a bit sad so I'll probably be re-trimming them fairly soon. I also have a spare set ready to go in the Celica, that should be a nice upgrade!

Haha, heavy...try comparing a Mk3 seat Razz

But seriously, its all the adjustments, the 3 bladders in them. A lot of it comes from the size of the brackets on the seats.

probably everything Smile Celica seats are heavy enough

For the price of getting those HSVs and mucking around ,you could proably get MA6x seats retrimmed and repadded like new. I have no idea how much that woudl actually cost, but it would be worth at least checking out first.

as for stock ma61 seats
they're comfy
wish they were about 5cm wider though
then they'd fit me perfectly(wouldnt have to have the "side huggy bits" adjusted all the way out and still need them to go out a touch...this is AFTER i've lost a fair bit of weight too...so now calling me fat, i'm festivley plump)

would be good if they sat a few cm lower too
my head touches the roof if i sit up straight :/

You guys with sports coupes should be careful about picking replacement seats that come from anything with more than 2 doors.

I've picked up my 99 WRX seats from a guy with a Sprinter coz even on the lowest setting he couldn't fit his leg between the seat & the steering wheel.
The Rex seat fit my car coz its a station wagon & I don't think Toyota even meant for it to be driven the way I do. Evil or Very Mad

I don't know what room is in a Supra, but its sure got a hell of a lot lower roofline than a Commodore, even the Monaro.
I'd be aiming at Skyline seats personally, every importer got them, you just got to pick the seat thats in the best condition, but the dirtiest, so you can still get them cheap enough.

Well, I've seen a $700 job, and that was basically strip seat back to metal frame, all new foam, all new springs, all new fabric (high quality), red down the sides, orange in the middle, with a yellow strip across base and uprite.
So thats a full 'rebuild' and custom 'paint'
It doesnt get much more expensive than that in velour
