i don't know if you noticed my 4-1 extractors at the meet on saturday.. they were from anthony kellam. they weren't coated and gave off very high under-bonnet temps. they also contribute to the car moving like a turtle under 100km/h. having said that, with some decent hpc coating, they'd be very good for top end.
i'd personally prefer 4-2-1. if i wasn't selling my car, i'd be happy swap mine with you.

oh yeah, anthony charges $299 i think, delivered to your door with the hose kit.

4-2-1 gives a better low end yeah?
4-1 gives better top end ?

that would only mean in the rev range though, not speed?
wouldnt it?

Not trying to take business of Anthony, but why change the factory manifold?
It's plenty good enough up to about 200hp odd.

Re: AE86 16v 4AGE Extractors Thu, 05 February 2004 14:06 Go to previous messageGo to next message
no they dont.

when i got my exhaust done, i got my workshop guy to put a brand new o2 sensor about 12" behind the collector of the extractors. There is no problem with doing it that way.

Also be careful of the powder coating on the extractors.... i accidentally wiped some off with prepsol while i was cleaning the engine bay Sad

That said.... i have had no problems with the kellam brand 4-1 extractors.

The clutch hose kit uses a banjo bolt and fitting onto the clutch slave rather than a direct bolt hose so that your exhaust doesnt rest directly on the clutch slave hose. Its also a good idea to heat sheild the hose too Smile This saves you spending $600+ on a "Japspec/driftspec" T50 bellhousing.

hi guys,
there is a company just down the road from where i live.
Its called Brenco Thermal Coating Technology, i have been looking at their website and aparrently they do thermal coatings for jet turbines, and other mechanical equipment under heat stress..
Does anyone know if they could do coating on extractors?
Has anyone ever got it done through them?

I might go down on monday and have a chat to them!! Very Happy

interesting...
i think you'll find that the jet turbine type coatings are based on a different techanology than needed for extractors.
i'd be interested to see what coatings they actually do (not much info on their page)
do you feel like asking them if they do platinum modifed, pack aluminised coatings for the turbine blades?

hmm, actually, that could work quite well for a set of extractors with some aluminium content... maybe a little bit exxy with platinum being around US$700 an ounce or so...
(or $500 a gram for the pure stuff)

reputable companies for extractor coatings (off the top of my head) are HPC and JetHot.

good luck,
Cya, Stewart
