Soarer Sex Change

Well, I've bitched about this for a very long time, and now it's finally done. The Soarer is automatic no longer... had a minor sex change on Friday to turn it into a testosterone charged manual.
I have to say that the conversion was an absolute piece of cake. Took 15 hours from start to finish to do everything.
Still running the auto ECU without any problems whatsoever.
The differential ratios between auto & manual have now been proven by me to be identical (at least in 1995 model Soarers) with the testing I did last night.
Only required the soldering of 2 wires to get the reverse lights working. Other than that, I had to bridge the neutral start switch (inserted a link between two pins in the harness).
All I can say about the overall conversion, I will never regret it, the car drives so much harder now (although launches are harder to get right), and was suprised at the extreme simplicity in converting it to R154.

LOL, definitely not red. Just poor representation of colour from the digital camera.
What "cylinder shaped hinge looking thing on the top right corner" are you talking about ???

Yep, it's to open the ashtray that never gets used.
Thanks Pete, you know how long I've been waiting to do this, so finally the day arrived
Not a short shifter yet... waiting on someone to build the parts for it at the moment.
Everyone else, that head unit is 7 years old
There is plenty of better stuff to steal out there (just not mine!
Total costs were around the $3k mark, which included everything required to do the conversion: box, pedals, shifter, clutch master/slave & piping. I also decided to install a lightened flywheel and got a custom 5 puck carbotic clutch made up as well (included in the $3k, but bought separately).
Installation costs... well, don't you love it when your dad is a mechanic ? Of course I was there helping too

Thanks. It's been a while (2.5 years) since I owned a manual car. The Soarer is/was my first and probably last auto car for a very very long time.

i hate owning an auto car
as much as i love my poopra
i'd love her more if she was a manual
its shocking at how bad i am at driving manuals now
well only my mates camry, it has the lightest clutch in the world...almost no feel at all
everytime i try change a gear i almost send the pedal through the floor
i suppose its because you need to be a strongman to drive my mums manual rolla(bloody conquest...pulls fullsik mate burnouts though )
anyways
contgrats on the conversion!!!
looks very neat from the inside
