the best thing to do hachi-roku is just read.
if u ask simple questions like the ones u have been, ppl can sometimes get annoyed because all of these questions have been answered before
load up google, punch in a keyword and get to it!

Ok this is easly answered,
No truenos in Aust, except imported ones.
What closest thing to it in aust ?
the brother and sister of the trueno, the Levin, in aust they are called "Toyota Sprinters" and they are almost identical to the Toyota Levin GT package, but instead of a 4AGE it comes with a 4AC 1.6 SOHC (Single Cam), no its not a Hachi-Go cause AE85 has a 1.5 SOHC 3AU engine..
Done.

Takumi: "I thought they can only come with a car"

By the way, that is a GTV up top, not your elusive GT APEX.
GT APEXs are fractionally in higher demand, and a tad more expensive.
Unfrotunately for you, the 3 door hatch shape in the panda spray job is the most expensive varient of the trueno.
You want something that has no little rust, a clean uncracked interior, and a straight body... (Mind you, not immaculate, but clean) You are looking at about 15k.
One of my friends was telling me how a panda one sold for 21,000 bux at a dealer.
Only cause it had NEVER been smacked, and had always been garaged by it's previous one owner. And by the way, it went within 2 weeks.
That's quite a bit considering the car was stock.
rock on.

M8 do urself a favour and just look around...u will find one that suits u and your price range sooner or later, dont just look at a trueno gt-apex either, since really INITAL D IS FICTION! k a m8 of mine got a bargain JDM gtv import which had already been regoed here in excelent condition for $2,800 THATS 800 more than what i paid for my sprinter and mines in hardly the best condition and an ADM! Its all about shopping around and being at the right place at the right time. So just keep looking. However if ur really after an import email or pm Kristian aka Supra Man, Kristian@JapaneseImportParts.com he should be able to find ur gt apex, but have ur wallet handy...it better be a very very large wallet aswell

but you gotta consider the advantages of GT Apex..
Power mirrors,
Power steering,
Racey coloured interior,
Slightly different suspension,
Climate control,
Front, rear spoilers, and most have side skirts.
To me though, all options factors don't really entice me to a GT Apex.
Except for power steering though. Makes oversteering and countersteering a hell of a lot more easier.
rock on.

shcao, you dont need power steering to get a quick steering rack
simply get some power steering knuckles and put them on a non power steer rack with some old rwd sigma control rods
quicky!!

kewl!!!
Hows that like to drive?
obviously dry steering won't be as nice as with power steering, but when you are moving is it just as light?
Thanks for that garth, I'll be looking into that.
(almost ran into a pole the other day due to a delayed countersteer . A good driver, which I am not, will obviously be able to do it with or without power steering. I just thought it'd be safer for an amatuer like me to have it).
rock on.

hey ae86Drift
nice trueno. what were the stats of it when you bought it? mileage, engine etc
and what have you done to it?
back to topic. if you want some decent imports go here
http://www2.odn.ne.jp/bblink/vcarlist.htm
they have decent trueno's and levins. cost a bit if you want a lesser mileage tho. but you can get one for about 9000 then + costs etc

JDM 86..
you won't find an immaculate GT APEX ae86 3 door for that price... Garunteed.... Anything that has minimal rust and has fairly straight chassis sell like hotcakes in japan.
You might find some rough ones for around about there..
You may be lucky enough to score a 'clean' but not immaculate GTV for that price range.. but it's tough.
rock on.

they made $1000 profit
you need an automotive importers liscense to import a vehicle to australia
if you are lucky enough to have one then you can skip a dealers fee. otherwise you need a import broker/dealer to do it for you
