Will an RA40 diff fit a TA22 Mon, 01 March 2004 18:32 Go to next message
No matter about the diff flange, but, are the mount locations for the trailing arms in the exact same spot on the RA40 diff and the TA22 diff (i think my TA22 diff is a D series)

Any ideas?

why won't it fit? too wide OR are the mount points for the trailing arms in the wrong location?

From memory the mounts are in the wrong positions. I have an RA40 diff housing which I checked once before.

no wont fit,

it is wider and the mounts are in a different position...
well in comparison to a 28 diff any way.

Cheers

Ra40 diff does fit. I have one in my ta23 at the moment. moiunts are slightly out but it does fit without any mods and i aint had any problems with mine yet. Do need to use the ra40 panrod though.

Yeah, I also have an RA40 GT rear end in my Ta22. It is complete with disc brakes and F series centre.
These are very rare now, not sure how easy it would be to find another one....
It did need some mods to fit properly. Mine is upgraded to have vented discs as well and it is a bit wider than the original Ta22 hosuing, about 15mm each side I think..

An RA40 diff will not fit a TA22 without at least relocating the control arm mounts. (It's also wider.)

cool thanks for the feedback guys. much appreciated.

reason why i asked i have a RW diff from an rt142 corona - i measured its upper and lower trailing arm points and they are in the exact same positions on the ra40 diff and the rt142 diff.

the idea was to swap the rt142 diff in my ta22 instead which i might still do (just get the upper/lower control arm points re-welded to the diff in the ta22 spots)
