im just pondering if its worth going to an air/water IC or just shoving a sw20 style air intake on somehow.
any ideas?

what application do you want either for?
a w2a i/c set-up would be more effecient than a factory sw20 i/c set-up.

i was thinking more of the sw20 intake rather than changing the IC

the SW20 has it's i/c set-up running to the side engine vent doesnt it? you would get more air flow through the original AW11 i/c location from air coming up from underneathe and through the engine bay, than what would come through the engine side vent.
you could try something like this scoop underneathe to catch and direct more air up through your i/c..
IMO the w2a set-up would be the best option, the cost can be a bit daunting though sometimes.

you could try and source a celica gt4 w2a set-up of e-bay or parts for sale, import wreckers. i think the scoobies came with a w2a set-up as well at some stage, might find one at a import wreckers.
i have seen pics on the net of people that have turned a normal a2a i/c into a w2a by wrapping it with aluminium so it had a water/coolant jacket over the a2a core. i believe they worked quite well. you need a good coolant pump (i use a Davies Craig booster pump on mine), and a front mount heat exchanger (i am useing a a/c condensor).

I've got a PWR water to air which willl be mounted in the boot. Good for about 500hp. About $1000 bucks worth though, then you have to pay for intercooler pipes on top of that.
If your going to do it, save up and do it properly.
My 2 cents........
