Ouch!
I believe in fact that many Sparco seats do carry ADR compliance. I looked into one of the most basic fixed models and even that did. Although I'm not sure if there is more than one ADR that must be adhered to.
Another point to note though is that no amount of ADR compliance papers is going to save your arse if your seat mounts aren't approved as well.

Hehe, this is true.
I need some seats ASAP. Can anyone recommend any others that look as good as the Sparco above?

If you aren't too big (unlike chubby BlackSupra or Cyberpunk) the OBX ones are a nice shape, fit me like a glove. They have tough patches sewn in on the sides like those and they satisfy the ADR and some other standard they have to meet.

I was under the impression that lots of seats met the requirements, just the brackets and rails needed to be engineered.....

Carrera...although OBX don't list all their seats on their site. It complies with with both the ADR's and some other code of practice, checked it out then.
Reclining seat, RRP is $450 each methinks.

He didn't, he just found out the Sparco was legal, contrary to what someone else said the other day.

with the obx seats - i bought the daytona which is their smallest and cheapest seat - i could fit in it but it was a big squeeeze - wouldnt be comfortable for daily driving.
(i am 100kg and 6 foot)
so i sold that one and got the obx daytona wide style - same seat but wider and it has wear patches and a removable cushion.
have more info on the install/mounts and pics if anyone wants them too.

well I'm 5'11" and 65kgs, so any of them will fit me
but the daytona isn't reclinable, so not suitable for me (I regularly have back seat passengers, unfortunately)

im soon getting 2 obx daytona's, suit my application perfectly.
good price aswell. im going to install them then strip out the rear and put in a roll cage
getting my car ready for the engine conversion. im doing everything to the car (suspension, interior, paint etc etc) before the conversion. hopefully they are good choices

id recommend SITTING in the seat you plan on buying. seats are enourmously individual choices. personally i love SPARCO - but they cost a fortune. some of the cheaper seats just feel plain wierd. i hate the feel of SAAS seats, and autotechnica really feel shit to me
remember, its not how it looks, but how it fits both your car and your ass. i went through 3 seats in my car till i was happy. theres a big difference in what they feel like on the loungeroom floor, and what its like to drive a car in them.
and ill take 'firm' over 'sloppy' anyday thanks

Australian Auto is a wholesaler tho - you need an account.
I have notice some of the new obx seats i have had in the last few weeks have a new(?) obx logo with flames sewn into the seat, different to the pics above.
Id strongly suggest you go down to your local autobarn and try the seats first tho.. It is a big personal preference. I have had most of their seats - and for a daily driver i would be spending the extra $$ on one of their more padded reclinables with wear patches.

Yep I have just been to about 400 million shops around the Brisbane area and tested all the seats I could find.
I tested the OBX Torino which was fairly comfy apart from the side leg supports which had no padding allowing some steel tubing to upset the leg muscles. I give these the thumbs down.
I tested the OBX Carrera which was very comfy for the first 10 minutes I was sitting in it after this I noticed the lack of lower back support. I give these the thumbs down.
I tested all the available reclining SAAS seats and these were all too wide with not enough side support to hold you in the seat. All got the thumbs down.
I tested the Sparco Torino. This is with out doubt the best seat I have ever sat my butt in. It had plenty of support for your legs, lower back, shoulders and kidneys. This seat got both thumbs up with a big cheesy grin
Last but not least I checked out the Cobra Daytona. This had all the features of the Torino but unfortunately I only got to test the model with the cheap nylon covering. Even so, I still give the Daytona the big thumbs up.
Next weekend I'll be testing out the Daytona with the rock material so stay tuned
