1GGTE parts help Sat, 03 April 2004 09:26 Go to next message
Does anyone know the best place to get new engine parts for a 1GGTE ? I'm looking at pistons etc. Preferably also on the internet. Any help would be great, Thanks.

I'm planning on putting the 1GGTE into my Mark 2 Ford Escort. I bought the whole motor for $350 with standard harness and computer, so i thought it'll be better to rebuild the engine before putting it into the car.

I'd go the other way and try putting it into the car first. Escorts are really short in the front and it will be a big squeeze to get it in. You would need to move the brake booster too as it is where the turbo's will want to live. Let us know how you get on though. I am trying to convince my brother to put a newer engine in one of his Mk1's. Hmmmmm I have a spare 1G too.

SSS Automotive are selling complete low km 1gGTE's for $750. At that price I'd buy one and use yours as a spare. To my knowledge they only aftermarket pistons come from the states. Very expensive as you'd imagine. Otherwise Castle Hill Toyota can supply most parts for rebuild.
