T28 turbo on a T3 flange? Wed, 14 April 2004 05:30 Go to next message
Hi,

I have a T3 turbo on my TA22 Celica with a 2TGEU.

Someone told me that the turbo off a Nissan GTI-R (T28?) would be a much better turbo - probably less lag rather than more power.

Anyone got any comments with fitting such a turbo to a 2GTEU, and in particular if it's possible to get one that will fit a T3 exhaust manifold flange as I'd prefer not to have to modify the manifold.

Any help/information appreciated.

Regards

Gene

gene, i have an rb20 bb turbo which is going on my 4AGE (also 1.6) and its a T03 flange but its more along the lines of a T28 in size of turbo.

Failing that you can always make an adapter to go on your manifold to use a T28 flanged unit...

Thanks for that Grega,

I'll have a look at RB20's too, especially if they have T03 flanges.

If you go to this site http://www.horsepowerinabox.com/ you will find that you can buy a t3 to t28 adapter plate, but you would have to modify the exhaust dump, possibly your inlet and oil feed and return and water lines. Seems a lot of mucking around for what could be less lag on your motor and its could cost a fare penny aswell.

Thanks guys for the information.

I'll have a look at the web site, and research the turbos/engines you mentioned.
