Turbo upgrades for 3TGEU

What are some turbo upgrades people have done to their 3TGEU's?
I am looking at buying a 3TGEU but the stock CT20 has seen better days.
Any suggestions on upgrades or solutions?

Apparently the CT26 of the 7MGTE supra will go onto the existing 3TGTE manifold with a little work, this is supposed to produce some good results.
As for me, I have a custom made manifold to suit a CT20-B turbo, it all depends on how much money you have to spend, I think that the ct26 off a supra would be the cheapest and best option, otherwise you have to get custom manifolds etc made up which usually starts to get expensive.
Good luck

How sure are you that they bolt on? When you say a little work, what needs to be done?
Any idea on how much a CT26 would cost with a manifold?

Personnaly,
I think a garret upgrade is the best bang for buck,
I second hand BB t3 of a skyline or better yet a turbo of the old z31? vg30 single turbo.
5 bucks for an adaptor plate to be cut, someplaces even have them off the shelf, some new oil lines/water lines.
HUGE improvement...
And T3 leaves alot of of potential for upgrades.
Just make sure you spend a few hours with the die grinder (or drill and dremel bit) cleaning up inside the manifold to port it to suit the T3 pattern

Hi NiCkeL,
Like most things in life, it does depend on how much you want to spend & also how much you can do yourself.
While the CT26 won't bolt straight on, it is the easiest to make an adapter plate to bolt up to the standard 3T-GTE manifold, & it does work very well. Jason is running a CT26 on his 3T-GTE up to 24psi & is putting out just under 200rwkw (that's around 280kw at the flywheel). You can normally pick up these turbos for around $400+.
Keep in mind, you wouldn't go tweaking up the boost that high for long with out some forged pistons.
I believe that the best "bang for buck" would be a ball bearing T28 that you can source for around $800+(depending on its condition & your luck!) off a S15 model 200SX.
The T28 will spool up quicker & is a better turbo than the CT26.. besides, isn't it nice to say Ball bearing?
If you have the tools & skills to make your own manifold, run oil & water lines you could probably get something like this running for a around $1200 (I managed to do this for a friend for $1120 all up)... However, if you can't then you would also need to purchase a custom manifold, which could set you back more towards the $2000 mark.
I hope this helps.

The CT26 off the 7M-GTE only requires the mounting holes in the turbo to be slotted a few mm, no adaptor plate is required. You do need to port the manifold out to suit the new turbo for best results though. There were pics posted up somewhere on the forum of the work required, was it TE72_Turbo who posted them?

I've had a 3tgte with a T28 BB - running about 11psi..
Very big difference from the CT20 - so that would be my reccomendation (quite good on the budget as well)..
