Oil Filter in on a 2TG Tue, 27 April 2004 00:58 Go to next message
Ok i know it's a stupid question but i need to know what oil filter goes on a 2TG the one that came off it looks like an old Jap one with part number 15600-25010. i did a search on google and found that the replacement Ryco part should be Z89A but when looking at the Z89A it look a little small.

Any help on this would be gr8

Big Jay,

I know they are a little bit more expensive but the Genuine Toyota Oil filter is the ONLY filter I will use on My T series engines.

On the 2TG they improve oil pressure and especially help with getting oil to the top of the engine quickly on start up. The typical 2TG chain rattle was non existant on mine once I settled on the Genuine Filter. (I also used BP course Plus mineral oil, make sure your oil isn't to thin for the engine)

On the 3TGTE's the Ryco filters have been known to pop. Once again the Genuine Toyota Filter is the answer Smile Same filter fits the 1G and 1J series to.

They may well be made in the Ryco factory but they are defiantly not the same as a Z89.
I have seen more than 1 T series engine split Ryco filters. I have Never even heard of a Genuine Toyota Filter failing in the same way. I know in my personal experience and that of immediate friends the genuine Toyota Filters are more reliable and yeild a better oil pressure. Its quite easy to check this for yourself if you have an oil pressure guage Smile
Can't remember what the last one cost me... I thought it was $14 ??? I could be wrong tho the grey matter isn't as good as it used to be.
