only joking.... but I wouldnt fork out huge amounts for a plate just because somebody thought of it before me. I would just think of something else instead

Saw a sprinter the other day driving through Pitt St in Sydney... beautiful looking car...had the plates '86AE86'
Wonder how much they would go for. But it aint worth paying $'000's for a number plate. Saw a number plate 'HDT' selling for $60000  Apparantly its vintage

if someone steals custom plates, you cant get them re-issued for 4 years after the stolen date, it makes it harder for whoever stole it to drive around with stolen plates. so dont let any1 steal em otherwise you wil have to try and get them again in 4 years.
I almost bought those plates last year but didnt have the money at the time... damn i could have made a bit of money

but if they are done to match (easy peasy) and are kept in a proper number plate "surround" then they wont be able to tell the diff

yeah good idea. you'd most likely only get a warning anyway, or a deffect which you clear by putting the real ones on then taking them off afterwards. beats losing your plates like my mate did. they were only the "once off" $186 jobies but they spelt his name and he had them only for a few weeks and the RTA wouldnt give him a refund just made him pay for new plates
