Your Toyota Corolla Twin Cam 1.6 uses an ECU which features an embedded processor rather than a normal chip or EPROM which means that your car does not use a chip that can be modified. The Powerchip upgrade for your car is an additional computer which alters the ignition timing of the vehicle in the same way as a normal chip style upgrade. Installation takes about 1 hour and can be performed by a Powerchip Authorised Fitter. We have authorized fitters in most areas. Please enquire at the time of order for your nearest fitting station.

In standard form, the Corolla Twin Cam 1.6 produces 86 kW and 136 Nm.

Powerchip has a range of chips to suit your car, which can increase it's power to between 92 kW and 95 kW, and it's torque to between 145 Nm and 149 Nm.

The price of the Powerchip is AUD $889.90.

Very expensive.
Powerchip chips for Commodores etc which have a plug in module are around $300.
They work though. I've had one in a VR Commodore, a 1998 Verada and a 1995 Nissan Bluebird and have noticed significant improvement in each.
You should search the forums for aftermarket computer installations though as lots of people here have used them to improve their engine's output. Might be dearer again but lets you customise the computer for your needs.

i agree boys. this is sounds very expensive to me too. but then again if its 10kw throughout the entire power band, it is an ok improvement. maybe it works better if u have other mods to it as well: Cams, headwork, CAI , Exhaust.

does any1 else have a new computer installed on their twincam?

personally its not worth the money on an 86 kw

if u really want more power save up for faster car or do and engine conversion

in the end u will be more happy

to spend up to 1000 for just a chip which will not suit yr engine 100% because these chips are not tuned to yr engine but as an overall settin for a 4ag

u will not notice much doifference and if u do i think u will not be happy with it

save the money and be happy with what u have at the moment

another thing is toyota spend a shitload of time tunin the factory ecu for best power and economy
i dont know how they get more power with no other mods

especiually 10 kws thru the whole rev range
