I now have my 18RGEU sitting in the shed awaiting mods before I dump it in.

But before i go ahead with these mods I want to make sure its not going to go all wrong, so anyone with good knowledge of these engines please help.

Now these are the mods i plan for the engine:

Bore the block to 92mm.
Port
Bigger Valves ( recommendations? )
Enlarged lower Oil Journals
Larger Cams 304/304?
Bigger Injectors
Aftermarket Comp.

Any advice, hints or tips will be greatly appreciated.

If your going to go to that amount of trouble then I suggest you consider turbo or supercharging the engine. Not being critical but the amount of money you are going to spend on an atmo engine won't get you a good dollar/performance ratio.

I agree Turbo or Supercharging would give better resaults but would also cost more on insurance. Maybe Supercharging can be my next project.... after I'm 25 when insurance costs less.

Why even bother with insurance with a car that has a market value of next to nothing? I have third party property on all my cars, which means I can do as many mods as I like.

Go the turbo I say! Smile

If you go atmo, give us an update when it's done. I'd be interested to know how you go with the larger capacity. I'm also considering supercharging my RG if I can ever get it to run reliably.

Have you got the original computer & wiring and would you be interested in selling it?

stiffer valve springs so it revvs higher(but not too silly or they'll snap your valves), port the head out, get an aftermarket efi comp and a T3... should be getting close to 300... oh and bore it out and get low compression pistons.

I'm gonna run:
bore 92.45mm
forged low comp pistons
as above for rest
(will have friend make up custom efi computer - yes, acually starting from scratch)
T3 ball bearing turbo.
