TOKICO Shocks? Thu, 11 March 2004 02:28 Go to next message
Has anyone used these or heard anything about them? I have been told by a few places today that they are very good(better than KYB) but they are also a bit more expensive.

So yeah, any thoughts?

I just wrote this on another thread somewhere else today but...

Tokico Corporation make KYB...

...and pretty much all of the Jap made shocks you will find are made by Tokico Corp. look closely at a set TRD shocks and you will see Tokico printed on them! Yes... like Pedders and Monroe? But Japanese version. I believe they also make the inserts for all of the major manufacturers of Coilovers (etc. Tien, Cusco etc...)

I have a set sitting next to me as i type Very Happy

After chatting with KYB importer in NSW, they are no longer bringing in the KYB's for the MA61 and id say the older celicas are in much the same boat. Purely because its not worth their while to service that market.

After alot of comparison threads on www.celicasupra.com forums it seemed that the Tokico's rated better than the KYB's being alot firmer.

I bought my set off ebay from toysport.com and they were pretty damn cheap $360 delivered.

Im still waiting on my 'custom' king springs to be made up Rolling Eyes before i can give you a rating, but im sure they will be much better than the worn factory stuff!

and the shipping was a killer!

EDIT: Ebay ID is toyhookup. It is the ebay shop for toysport.com so they may be able to help you out in that regard.

i had tokico standard replacements for a while. very good, shat all over the K-macs Sad

my opinion is that they are a very good quality shock.. theres a couple of places in the US (ones in NY state) where you can get very well priced adjustable shocks for early corollas and celicas (like US$25-50 each)....

I've heard that the tokico illuminas (which are upgrades to replace the TEMS units on equipped cars, which incidentally are KYB's) are lucky to last six months before one of them blows.

I was talking to the guys from Toysport today, and found out that the US Tokico Performance range is NOT the HTS102s which we so eagerly desire.
Sorry guys.
