just wondering if anyone has a pic of a gen 1 3sge so i can see what it looks like...I think i have one but scared its actually a 3sfe engine...

this will be close enough for you.. 3sfe's look like *similar* to sv21 camry engines.. skinny as head

Definitely Gen 1. Gen 1 had the two separate cam covers, whereas Gen 2 onwards had the single large cover.

Hahaha, your engine bay is as dirty as mine Rob, even my extractors look the same, Whats that funny, red lampshade thing Rob?

mine looks nothing like that, u seem to be missing a turbo and an intercooler, other than that yea it looks the same, oh wait i have the gen 2, well this is no good to this thred, i'm a junkie

yeah my engine bay is the filth  Yeah.. I don't know what that lampshade thing is actually.. just kinda "appeared" there one day. hmm must investigate 
how NICE and CLEAN is that other one.. me wants!!!
I look at all that room near the extractors and are like, "hmm lots of room for a turbo here..." but nah she's alright for now

Wouldn't you really need to see the inside of the head to get an idea of the port sizes? Really the manifold side could all be the same, but the port size at the cylinder end (can't remember the technical name) is what matters?
You think Rob's engine bay is dirty? Jeez you should see mine on a good day.
As for photos of Gen 1 intake 'ports'? I'll have a look around and see if I've got any, but otherwise I'll send you one via email/pm in a coupla weeks.
Easiest way to check if you have a 3S-FE is to look at the timing belt cover...usually has a sticker!
