g'day,
my car is getting some nice new paint so i am doing a few body mods at the same time.
i am thinking of removing the c pillar vents and welding up the hole. Has any one here done this?
i have heard of 1 celica that had it done and it cracked though i do not know whether it was due to it being a flex problem, poor welding etc....
So any help would be appreciated.....
sooner rather than later as the car goes in this afternoon!
Cheers
Stew

That yellow one with the 1UZ had em done and I have seen a few others around.
If your welding in metal, it shouldn't crack. If your filling it with bog as some panel beaters do, then it definitly will. Most panel beaters hate this kind of work because it is hard to get a good finish without using a heap of bog. If your guy is an old school "panel beater" and not a RnR insurance specialist, then he shouldn't have any problems.
Same Colour Stew??
Oh and are you gonna get thoes bullet holes fixed while it's in??

here's a pic of my old RA28 with deleted c pillar vents
http://www.blakjak.net/pubhost/rxtoy/carpic1.jpg
the pics pretty big, sorry for the bad angle, its the only one i've got on the computer.
i personally think they look better with the vents (mine came without) but they do look good without as well. if you are going to get them done find a really good old school panelbeater who knows how to work with lead to smooth it out, mine was welded up but you could see the shadow of the holes in the paint. the gas door on my TA23 was done in this way and you can't even tell where it was except from the inside of the boot, looks damn good.
cheers

hi guys,
thanks for the pic....
i deleted mine in paint, didnt look too bad at all.
but i spoke to my panel beater and he said they are there to prevent the cabin pressurising....
so i am going to keep them...
very similar colour.... no bullet holes.
