is it a good idead to put really stiff springs and shocks into the rear suspension of a front drive car to make it launch harder?

Wouldn't have a clue!
I know bugger all about different types of springs!

BTW, if you're gonna firm up the rear, be careful when driving around. I've seen some pretty funny videos of people losing control in FWDs with firm rear setups.

And hard-in-the-arse FWD cars can be damned good fun too, if you're expecting it that is!

As for whether the springs would be hard enough, what car and how much power I suppose??

You'd have to go bloody stiff all round on a FWD to make it launch hard.

Probably worth looking at some special shockies too. I guess some with high bump rates and low rebound would work well. Front and rear.

Bare in mind that all these suspension mods that have been recommended will make the car dangerous on corners with horrid oversteer.
