problems with mr2 Tue, 25 May 2004 03:19 Go to next message
Hi All,
Just having some problems with my sw20 91 turbo. on friday it was taking a very long time to warm the turbo up, around about 20 minutes. then once we got back home it was idling funny around 500rpms and wanted to stall, which it did a few times.also when on boost it was blowing some black smoke from the exhaust. a mechanic said it sounded like i needed new ignition leads (he didnt have time to look at it) so i changed them to the stock ones, but made no difference. changed the spark plugs, got the injectors cleaned. started it up sunday night and it was similar story..although now its not boosting properly.

last night it wanted to cut out, but after a few minutes of revving it, it started idling near 2000 rpms.

hoping you can give me some good news/advice on where you think the problem is, getting it serviced on thursday but just wanted to know your opinions.

thanks,
andy

Bridge the E1 and T1 terminals in the diagostic port
and then read the error code(s) flashing in the dash.
Tell us what they are.
Could be any one of a dozen problems.
Mitch.
