there is no such thing as a 20v low comp piston - the 20v pistons only come in hi comp dude.
its the GZE pistons such as the 8.9 and 8.0 to 1 comp which you can put in the motor to get the lower comp, and, yes they will fit.

that depends on the piston pin diameter and pin height...
how long is a piece of string?
what are you trying to ask?

low comp 16V pistons will work but the head will no longer be non interferance, i assume you are planning a turbo?, as long as you get the cam timming right there wont be an issue if you are after the low comp 16V pistons send me a PM i may be able to help you out with pricing.
as long as you are carefull with the boost there is no need to change the rods and crank, standard they are fairly strong items.

From the information i have got, the crank for the AE101 20V and GZE is actually a shared item! (same part number) Damn strong too!
However, the rods are definitely different from the 20V to GZE. GZE ones are obviously much beefier.
But like IRA11Y said, with the right setup, its all good within its limitations

one thing that comes to mind, i think i cant be 100% sure that, but dont the 20v pistons have a special cut out withing the piston for the extra valve???

yes they sure do!
so you'd need to flycut for the extra valve..

...guess what Witzl...
The AE101 GZE and 1st gen 20V share the same rods aswell...
They are a bit lighter than the late AE92 GZE rods.

nope, again if you set the timing right you wont need to add the extra flycut to the ACL low comp pistons. They are allready dished, almost id bet, to the point where it may still be a non interferance head.

wow wow wow
so let me get this right
GZE and 20V share the same rods and crank just use different pistons?
if so there wouldnt be much need for agressive cams to be put into a 20v would there?

13401-16020 CRANKSHAFT 01.06.1991-01.08.1998 4AG#..AE101
13201-19126 ROD SUB-ASSY, CONNECTING 01.10.1991-01.05.1995 4AG#..AE101
Those are the part numbers for the ae101 GZE and series 1 20V, I cant comment on the series 2 silvertop 20V as I can't be bothered looking up the part numbers for it as I dont have a series 2 VIN.

the later 20V (blacktop) rods and pistons are both different to earlier engines. its relatively easy to cut the valve inserts in the pistons, we do it all the time on race engines.

I think they are too, the 20V pistons are really domed from memory, I've got some, just need some GZE ones to compare them to...

Hi Guys, sorry to barge in but one of my mates has a set of gze slugs he has offered to sell me but I don't know how much they are worth any ideas ? They are second hand but have not been used since the engine was shipped from Japan as he has used forged units, they look in good order, any advice would be appreciated !
