12V Amp prob Mon, 14 June 2004 01:35 Go to next message
Guys
I cant get my amp working. Newcastle pro sound installed it in my old white AW11 with all my gear and everything worked great!

Now with my new AW11 I swapped everything over exactly and everything works except the amp. I cant get the amp to power up. Cables are good quality and are carryiing 12V to the amp tested. It has a good 12V connection and grounding. Fuses are al;l OK. Remote switch is connected. I have confirmed 12V at the amp terminal with mutilmeter.

I just cant get it to turn on! The LED wont light up!

confused and in need of base,
Martin

Okay, using your trusty mutlimeter you've definately measured 12 volts at the positive and remote terminals and the earth is strong? The amplifier should power up provided all fuses etc on the amplifier itself are intact. If the light doesn't come on then I would say it is stuffed. Sad

Just out of interest, what type of amp is it?

thanks mate its a Blaupunkt GTA2100 1 x 400W

Thats a shame if it is stuffed. It was working fine 6 months ago.
The tester told me there is 11.5 V at the amp. This would be sufficient wouldnt it?

like fhrx said, i would check that you have power at both the positive and remote terminals.

11.5 volts should turn it on ok.
