Most guys use Bilstein or Koni inserts and match the Valving to the spring rates, we only use coil over stuff because it's easier to change the ride heights, spring, settings etc. But I have never ever done this in 10 years of Club rallying!!

In the front you pull out all the internal of the shock and you 'slide' new shocks into the orignal casing, rear, well Confused you have to buy brand newies... Talk to a suspension specialist and they'll point you in the right direction and match all the right stuff up if they're really good.

I don't know what goes on down there johnny, but up here in QLD there has been a little fight brewing by some stirrers at scrutineering about eleigibility of coilovers. The PRC rules state that suspension components may be replaced/upgraded but must still be fully interchangeable with the original equipment. This has been loosely interpretted by some people as coilover springs not being interchangeable with the oem springs and therefore not legal. In short though trip, johnny's spot on, go for some new inserts up front and new shocks at the rear (koni or bilstiens are good) and keep it at standard ride height or slightly higher.
