TA40 fender/wing flares Fri, 06 February 2004 21:55 Go to next message
Hi all
Anybody know where to source some?

Toymods in the US list them, but no pictures on their site.
They don't seem to answer my emails either.

The R+P conversion and MA61 struts/brakes pushes the front wheels out about an 1 inch proud of the wings.
The 7 inch rims on the rear make the wheels about 2 inches proud of body.

Not only does it look unfinished, its also illegal here in the UK

Don't really fancy anymore bodywork mods so am looking for bolt on ones.
This is the sort of thing that I am looking for

(though for a Celica TA40 not a Starlet)

Any help appreciated as it is going to be painted next month, and drilling holes in a freshly painted car is not my idea of fun!

Cheers

can get flares to suit a ke25 - not sure how they would fit on your ra40 - but anything is possible!

Tried a few more ideas as I can't find the 'half moon' arches I'm looking for.

Firstly I slightly flared and blended the rear arches in steel.
These look alright, and with some suitable mudflaps mocked up out of card look alright I guess.

I also tried some Mk2 Escort tarmac arches as I found a set cheap on Ebay.
The profile on the rear ones matches the Celica shell almost perfectly - can't decide if I like them yet, or if they spoil the lines of the car. They will be smaller though, when trimmed properly to fit.
The front Escort arches will need a little more work to fit though.

Have a look see what you think.

Hi All,

Thought this might be of interest...
Tracked down some MA61 flares over the winter (the cold weather in the UK keeps me out of the garage for while, so I chase parts)

The rear flares fit quite well 'out-of-the-box', they will need some minor shaping but nothing serious.
The notch for the fuel filler flap also matches up nicely.

The front flares would need a bit more work to fit, but after sourcing some adjustable camber tops I won't need these.

This isn't a bolt-on solution but is nearly there....

It is worth saying that the photo's show the arches lightly clamped in 2 places, they are not being forced to comply to a TA40's shape
