Lowered suspension, yes or no? Thu, 08 July 2004 00:54 Go to next message
Guys, the springs in my 1980 ra40 are not mint to say the least. I need an upgrade. I was going to buy a set of lovells Sport low which lower the car by 25-40 mm. Will this cause a problem on bumpy country roads. Am I better off going for uprated standard height springs. Thanks.

Unless you want it to look lower, depending on how the roads are, I'd just be getting heavy-duty standard height springs. If the roads are tabletop smooth and you want it to look cooler, by all means drop it a bit Smile

I have lowered suspension in my RA23, and while it's OK on city streets it would drive me nuts on bumpy country roads. If you want improved handling, I'd suggest you keep your existing springs and upgrade the shocks, bushes and swaybars. That will make a huge difference to handling without making the ride too firm.

norbie is right

road holding on high speed bumpy bends will go out the window. especially in the rear end.

I curse the quality of roads in NSW everyday especially because most days im driving to work on backroads.

I have lowered kings in my RA40 all round and *cough*cough* brand shocks.
