how do i set up webspace? Thu, 01 July 2004 11:23 Go to next message
id like to be able to host my own files so i dont have to keep asking people to do it for me!
I have cable and want to know how to use telstras space to the best of my ability?
if someone can just run me through some steps involved in setting up my page, itd be greatly appreciated.

Blake

youll need to find out what the ftp address for your space is and you know the username and passwords.
get an ftp client, type in the address and username and password, then just select and upload any files you want.

its not that hard
it should have some information on your telstra user page or whatever there is

there are plenty of free ftp client programs around
i recommend "ftp surfer"

just find the address, which should be something like
ftp://telstras.address.com.au

then run the ftp client program, add a new webpage profile and it will have boxes to type the address in, your username, and password. then click connect, and it will login, then its just like using explorer on your computer.

If you have cable it's easy.

The ftp server is at ftp://users.bigpond.net.au, so put users.bigpond.net.au into the address part of the ftp program then enter your details.

cable? do you have a static ip address?

i think you can set up your own server on the computer your connected to or have a separate server.

just type in your ip address in the browser address and see what happens.
