ZE PCV system

Still hammering away at my custom manifold for my 4AGZE:
And I'll be starting on the vacuum lines etc shortly. The factory PCV hose leads to the atmosphere side of the throttle body where it will get bugger all vacuum. Has anyone got any idea why this is so? Is the factory inlet plumbing so restrictive that there is a decent vacuum there, or is it just effectively an open breather system?
I'm thinking about an oil-air separator while I've got the welder out, but, the design I want to use would benefit from a real vacuum on the other end. Would it hurt anything to plum it in after the TB?

as long as the oil-air seperator stops most/all of the oil vapour into the intake i couldnt see a problem with tapping into that pipe after the TB. from what i read oil vapour knocks the fuel octane rating down?
vacum in the top end of a engine is spose to help HP as well doesnt it?
it helps my friends drag car, cant see why old V8 stuff cant apply here?
p.s. looking good man..

Thanks, it's getting there slowly..
It isn't just vacuum in the top end which helps, it's also vacuum in the crankcase which lowers the wind resistance of the crank and pistons.
What I can't work out is why Toyota didn't do it.....
