engines have them too
a manual box needs oil and it sits in the bottom of the gearbox after you let it sit for a while, but i wouldn't call it a "sump". maybe some people and factory manuals would tho?

Autos have a pressurised lubrication system, hence the use of a sump. Manuals use splash lubrication, which means you want the oil to be in the way of the gears and stuff, not collected by a sump.
