i dont apriciate that remark blown but im not 1 to hold a grudge, anyway the reason y i said that was that when they were importing engines and the such, the company had a few more people and their work was of a high standard, at that time they were one of the best exhaust places around, and still are quite good from wat i hear, but since then there work concerning additional/replacment parts (on standard cars) has seemed to be of poor quality, they seem to be inconsistant they choose what cars they are gonna do a good job. but to the point my cousin had cold air induction put on his 92 ford tx3 awd turbo, they put it all in but it wasnt properly held down do it moved around and affected the afm, when he saw this he took it down to a mate who is a cop, and was promptly told he would get a yellow if he ever got pulled over. take it as u will but always check any1s work before you hand over the cash

Pheonix--> No grudges here too... Just to clear up a few things, the company still has the same people working, and not much has really changed since then. Stopping the importation of s/h parts was because it was getting to competitive and cut-throat. I would like to discuss this in further detail about your cousin's TX3, as I would really like to know what the story is as if a problem occured, he should have come straight back to get the problem rectified.
Anyways, as Pheonix said, check over any work performed before payment.... its your money, its your right.
Cheers!

blown havnt you read my last post, i agree with u Katsuchiyo, XSpeed do know wat they are on about and are willing to spread their knowledge. more proof about cypher, same cousin after getting the cold air induction asked cypher if it was work rebuilding the engine and such and they quite confident that a rebuild would give a decent power increase and proceeded to push the idea 4 them to do it, cousin takes car 2 XSpeed, asks same question, and looked at engine bay, shruddered when they saw the cold air induction, straight away stated cypher. now they said to my cousin dont bother with rebuild wont do any good, and proceeded to explain y. well im gonna go 2 Xspeed from now on.

"and some of their work has been know to give a few stickers."
Where's the evidence????
Read your post and as I said LAME.
It appears your cousin didn't get a yellow sticker, who did then???
You used a plural in the above quote so there should be more than one sticker you can prove was issued due to Cypher's work.
It appears that your cousin didn't take the car back to Cypher to get the problem rectified but preferred to travel around showing the work to others. Very strange!!
Your cousin was given two different opinions by two different workshops. What is that actually meant to prove???

I think the best shop is SST's. I have had all my work done there and I have seen many of my friends get pleasing results as well. He is state distributor for many ECU's and has a close connection with turboing people and importers etc. He also has his own dyno.
I seen one Corolla come out of there with 220hp at the wheels and it was awesome! Never been in a quicker front wheel drive car in my life!
Theres also 1000hp Supra's and off there face Skylines! Well, now as far as performance shops go, theres my reccomendation!

SST is located in Welshpool, WA. The Corolla I am pretty sure was running a turbo charged 4OG but I will have to look that one up for you. If you would like any info on anything then contact Steve on either his e-mail sstwolf@iinet.com.au or give him a call on (08)9350 5444.
He has done all the work to my Corolla which when I bought it it had a stuffed carby and couldn't even idle. Two weeks lata my car emerges a fuel injected car with a Wolf 3D and tuned to perfection! He had to modify the whole engine and fuel rail to put it on there.
Oh well, hop I could help and if you want any more info, just ask! I will find out what that little Corolla had in it for you though.

Yeah 1BAM I agree everyone is entitled to their opinion.
However, members of this forum should be expected to provide factual information and provide actual proof to back statements made if required. Particularly if the statements can lead to a loss of business for those affected.
The defamation laws in Australia are very clear on this as well, the only defence is the truth otherwise individuals may be guilty of libel in circumstances like these.
In the case of Phoenix he failed to provide any justification to his statement that yellow stickers had been issued due to Cypher's work.
Put up or shut up is an appropriate term.

Yellow stickers are issued due to the mods you specify or allow and due to the police trying to remove unroadworthy cars and troublemakers. (Some police are troublemakers too I know, and just try to give us a hard time.)
I don't believe that any performance shop is responsible for cars receiving yellow stickers. Any mods on a car, including stereos, can be yellowed so even taking your car to a performance shop can cause a yellow which therefore brings it back to the owners responsability.

Howdy
on the subject of yellow stickers whats the go with cars over 25 years old is it true that u dont have to have all the emission gear (ie a 1000 tubes of a carbie) before u say carbie pffft i've got a 76 corona mk2 its got a 4m 6cyl i've recently put a 350 holley on it ported the head and manifold, put a set of custom extractors into a single muffler 2 1/2inch exaust.
It goes hard im still running it in but i got a 120hp at the tyres on the dyno when i get the air/fule ratio right i reckon i can get 130 - 140. not bad for a n/a 26 year old motor.
Can the cops do me for a different carbie?

I think you're meant to have the emissions gear that was fitted when new. The advantage is cars 25 years old didn't have too much gear in the first place.
You should be right with the carbie swap, the cops wouldn't know what is meant to be there.
One thing I've found is the cops only seem to notice the charcoal canister missing.

Im in Albany, 400kms south of Perth. Sold my Hilux, bought a Sprinter, poor cond, 4A-C, shagged suspension. Suspension fixed, rust should be fixed soon, probly come up in about 3-4 months time when I've got the 4A-GZE in it. W/ Nevo pulley kit, should be making about 200HP @ flywheel- enough to keep up with the better company. I'll watch this space and try to find you people next time im up. BTW, does anyone know the guy that drives a Turbo'd Cordia (Corolla FX, 2 door Corolla, etc) parked at the Carousel on Sat night on the pavers near the Highway? thats a bit of a rig.

Hi im a perthy of 18 years now, formerly of VIC.
some people might recognise me on here im known under this nick on IRC and as 'adz' in alot of car people circles selling parts and giving advice where i can. im co-founder of the PerthCRX club and member of motorsport clubs like TeamHoist and AFARCC ( to name a small fraction).
just bought myself an aw11gze MR2 with intent of turbo. Only just started playing around with the 4ag intensively as im building a 4agte corolla ke70 for a mate. i've done alot of work on alot of cars including toyotas , nissans, hondas holdens and all others...
in regards to the comments made, ive read a fair bit of good stuff about Cypher's operations, and can vouch for the quality of the mufflers as i have had one for a while which sees itself transplanted between my two crx's in various formations.
with the whole performance workshop thing i would find it hard to comment because there are some jobs that work out and some that dont, and what you remember is all the bad comments from people nobody seems to remember the good positive stuff... ive had a few bad people try to trash my reputation after ive done rebuilds/swaps/general work on their cars after theyve handed over cash whilst saying they are happy with it , so whos to say im bad at what i do? same can be said for some workshops if you get the idea.
anyways i hope you all drive safe and enjoy our great open perth roads.

The individual in this incident was one of Alf Barbagallo's sons. It just goes to show you what can happen when you have a smart arse attitude. Even though the cop in question was reprimanded, there is a lesson to be learned here.

Hey coronamark2 - is this your brothers business? In which case hows the cost of his exhaust systems?? Might have to go down and introduce myself! Where are they located??
Anyways - back to the point - DAMO here, owner and commander of TRD 83 (83 Toy Supra). Live south of the river, and very much looking forward to a cruise with all you lot in the near future! Keep an eye out on the posts for coming Toyota Cruises.
AS for performance shops - I've always thought that Cypher were alright - at least in the cost department. And some of the advice I've gotten from the guys down there seemed genuine. X-Speed and SST can't say I've been to, but both seem to be highly recommended as read on the previous posts. Only other shop I've been to is C-Red and i wouldn't bother returning there... the guys seems pretty unhelpful with anything to do with Toyota!?
Finally - since we are on the subject - anyone wanna plug any mechanics to do Toyota engine conversions? in terms of cost and know how..
Cheers
