Corner of the month
|

Took this shot on a nice little drive I had a few weeks back through Brisbane Waters National Park (just south of Gosford). I definitely want to head up a cruise and go back there again some time soon.
Anyway - It got me thinking back to a thread from a year or two ago about people's favourite sections of roads..
So - Has anybody got anything new for me??! Please post pics as evidence if you have them!!
PS - New tyres are great - I can actually start to enjoy this stuff again!!

That would have been from errrrrrrrrrr my car (the daily), about 2 or so years ago. I was actually lucky. It was the first corner all day that i took easy and somehow the rears locked. I slid to a stop about 30cms away from a 10-15m drop

that is one damn nice hairpin Lucid, would love to tackle that one.
and i like that 1st one you got there Cyber-punk. that would be an awesome double slide (possibly slide-out ) coming down, and you could have more fun going flat-out back up it...

In all the states of australia I've been driving in (all of them) Adeliade takes the cake for hills and corners.
Picture this:
Family of five in an XF falcon Wagon. With a retal trailer - all two tonnes of it. Traveling from Victoria to NT via adelaide. And those who know the hills down into adelide know what I'm talking about.
Dad thought we would take the back roads in the hope the car could handle it. The Automatic was how do we put it - NOT HELPING. The back roads weren't any better. Anyone know what it feels like to have NO brakes? well its pretty bad, but usually you can still park the car right? Well not when the road is at least a 30deg hill (a guess I admit) and you've got a TWO Tonne trailer PUSHING us down the hill. There wasn't even a location close enough to cool the brakes down. So the smart (safe) option was taken and a tow truck towed the trailer out.
For this, the adeliade hills are the worst (best) in australia.

Yep - That sounds like Macquarie Pass? We've had a few Toymods cruises through there.. Always lots of fun (except when you get stuck behind slow traffic )

wheres the VIC support?
gotta say it - black spur - about 80km or so outta melbourne - all good.
dandenong ranges make for interesting driving. i don't suggest nite time - roman will attest to that - also - my mate trent in his mazda 626 will also attest to that. daytime road.
GOR - bit past it - road needs ALOT of repairs. out past lorne to apollo bay is nice. but, as my mate is his 200sx can attest to - watch the lumpy bits on the sides (towed him out of a ditch with my 202 VH)
if you're REALLY keen the road b/w Bright and Mt Beauty is abso-fucking-gloriously-sensational-lutely its awesome. i did this years ago in my lancer at dusk - its all good (even slow its a nice road). i'd only suggest doing this though in off season when foadlies with their kids are not around (ie: not public holidays or school holidays (off season) and DEFINATELY not ski season.

i love corners.
my favorites would have to be The Commenara Parkway between Pennant Hills and Pymble, the old pacific high way between hornsby and brooklyn, old northern rd down to wisemens ferry and of course my FAVORITE IN THE WHOLE WORLD galstons gorge.
used to race it in my old escort with a bit of work down to it.
did it in 4min 30sec once from hornsby side to glaston
some dude in a pulsar sss my friend brought along wich was worked and had about 130kw at the engine could only pull 4min 58sec that very same night hehehehe he wasnt a happy chappy

I think from memory there was a story a few years ago of a certain Toymods member recording times through there in a certain GZE'd Sprinter..
Can't recall what he did it in. I'm sure there some old farts who've been around longer than me whomight remember though..
Cheers Ben

Who wants to mowdown some padestrians?
I cant post pics of country corners/roads coz im never out there. But what about 'crazy roads' around the INNER-CITY?
Refer to pic; its a short road with some nutter tight corners. A friend of mines chickfriend was going too fast around here and lost control and ended upside in the bay (low tide) so she was lucky.
Maybe I should take some snaps of where it happened, heh. Will post them later.

The Black Spur is policed up-the-Wazoo nowadays. I don't think the cops liked half the states motorcyclers using it as their own personal hillclimb!!!!
I'd have to look at some Grade-A stoppers before tackling any of those hills with gravity assistance. Uphill you can forget aswell, unless I install a supercharger...... hmm, wonder if I could swing one of the cars with a GenIII and the 6-pot front/4pot rear brakes from work?
Probly not

Heheh.. I know that road - Drove along it one afternoon a while back out of boredom. Those bends are kinda fun from memory. Would be lots more fun if it wasn't a suburban area where you have to worry about kids, cars, dogs etc..

Ghostyz and Lench....... agreed Yanko Rd/Commenara PKWY is wicked.... and its a 1991 excel ghostyz lol it ancient like my car.....
I would also agree with:
-Galston Rd, galston
-Maccars Creek rd, terry hills( if u can do that at 80 km/h in a beat up 1991 toyota camry and NOT have it overheat at the end let me know lol)
The old pacific hwy btw Mt White and Hornsby.....wicked corners..
the AUSTLINK industrial area off Mona Vale Rd too....
small but sweet.....
and at night.... the run btw Mona Vale and Palm beach.....
Yanko Rd/Commmenara Pkwy is good day or night...... but better night for less cars and THAT hill can be done at 120:D lol
Then again..... doing the M4 averaging 140km/h at 7.30 am from Blue Mountains to James Ruse Drive Exit.... good fun.... esp chasing that black lancer but thats another story...
