I think I had my first positive experience from the police!

Though I did get some greif (which was apart of his job) the officer in question was, so professional, and so reasonable with a sense of humor... I was blown away. I just wish more cops were like this guy.

I mean seriously when working over a car, how many police actually tell you WHY what's wrong is wrong, and suggest quick and easy ways to fix them, and tells you of the possible dangers of not fixing them? that's just pure awesome. None of this "I have a badge so what I say goes" sorta crap I had come to expect..

Hey he didn't even have a go about my pod filter "yeah they're getting popular"..

Has anyone else had such a positive experience with a police officer? where you don't go away offended? Is there somewhere you can say "this guy is doing a good job" (the opposite of a complaint)...

Yeah i had a positive experience,

Shift-lite tacho on the dash in front of the passenger. Made good sense why they are illegal there.

If in an accident, where will the passengers head hit first...guess thats just common sense. Got off without a fine as well. Lucky.

Cops aren't bad dudes, if you do something stupid and endanger others, then you deserve to be fined. I suggest people look into the reason why they have these laws instead of complaining, and you will understand its for our safety,

"Like cutting springs to lower you car" that goes very high on my list of dumbass things to do.

good to hear that there are a few god cops out there!

i had some police facetime recently, pulled over (green p + custom plates + modified car = why hello thar policeman!) asked the usual "do you know how fast you were going back there son?"

deny deny deny. but in both cases they had no gun on the car and i wasnt doing any more than 5-10 over so they didnt ticket me, although i did get a fine of $78 and 2 points for a damn p plate being missing!

but as for the cops, they were both young ish officers who werent power tripping at all. nice to see. i was glad. one guy even said "also, you might wanna watch out for those hwy patrol pricks, it looks like you have modified quite a bit on the car and they'll love to defect you on that nice racing bonnet of yours! have a nice night and watch your speedo. allright?"

haha how funny is that? he was a nice guy though. very professional.

i think its also the fact your not giving them lip and are treating them with respect, even if you dont think you deserve what they are dishing out to you.

they are just people like you and me after all.

Yeah, watch out for Highway patrol cops. I've gotten the inside line that they're usually either pricks who love handing out fines + defects, or total jerks who none of the regular cops can get along with, so they get pushed into a car by themselves, or with another jerk, so that they can't annoy the "good" cops.

I was told this by an ex-Vic cop, and a serving N.S.W cop. on seperate occasions.

I was pulled over by a pair of 'em one night for my indicator not self-cancelling, and BOY were they assholes. $250 fine for an address technicality on my licence, and said that if they saw me driving again they'd fine me again and it'd be court, for repeat unlicensed driving. All for not spending ENOUGH days per week at my home address!!!!

Oh yeah, they canaried me, making me get a full roadworthy for ONE hose off the engine, and marginal tread on the rear tyres.

BASTARDS!!!!!!

My ONLY good experience with cops.

running late to my mates engagement party (I was helping serve food)
i was behind someone doing 50 in 80 and 90 zones.
decided to over take him plus the other 5 cars that were in the way.
crossed double white lines and road Island.
cops came round the up comming bend and saw me then gave chase.
i sped off as soon as i was round the next corner and didnt know cos i had left cops for dead.
20k down the road i slow down for the turn off(was doing about 170km and thought i had left em far behind.
cops catch up to me.

Young dick head cop says: do u want to live
i say: um yes
young dick head cop says: WELL YOUR NOT FUCKING DRIVING LIKE IT BLAH BLAH BLAH
old cop gets out of car
old cop: you got an escort eh?
i say: yes
old cop says: pop the bonnet
(mean while im thinking shit hes gonna defect me when he sees wots under there hehehhe)
old cop: nice job (gives it a rev on the throttle body)

and basically the old cop and me started talking about how he used to have an escort and wot are the best ways to get power out of em. he then talks to the young dick head cop and lets me off with a dangerous over taking fine and a warning. hehehehehehe Very Happy

needless to say ive had heaps of dick head cops give me head aches.

Don't worry fellows, like the age old saying, "what goes around comes around"

I got a mate who's an RTA inspector, he was doing 10-15km over the limit (by the way, RTA won't pull you over, they don't really give a shit, only if you act like dicks) highway patrol pulled him over, After my friend said who he was, and "let it go", should help each other, the cop said no, gave him the fine,

which for every action has a reaction, pissed off my friend, brought out the defect book, proceeded to give the cop car a FULL look over, and in the end, the cop was fined, lost his license, and the car was towed, leaving the 2 highway cops to find their own way home.

God i want to be an RTA inspector.

Go RTA inspector !

hahah!

Had a good cop experience not long ago

was followed by an unmarked car ( of course - i ddnt know )

cruising down the main street , ( 50 zone a little wet ) ive rolled off the lights and got up to speed - managing to go over 60 in the process , then down to a corner ..

of course - anyone whos driven a gt4 knows that they dont have much hassle with corners - so ive gone around it pretty briskly -and then lovely pretty lights flashed behind me ..

puilled over , lady cop asks for licence ( im dreading this - lady nazi cop fucked me over last time - different one ).

Tried getting licence out of wallet only to have it stick in there and not come out - so ive shown the oficer the wallet and said " sorry i cant get it out - can you try ?"

She tried for about 3 mintes - and couldnt - then asked me " permission to swear "

I said "fine - I hate that wallet too" - she laughed Laughing !

I said - you can take it back to the car if you like - but she said they are not allowed to - because i might accuse her of stealing stuff from it .

once again - i said - "i have no problem - if its easier for you to check it ..

Anyway - finally - after handing it back i got it out , shes checked it - and came back ..

Words to quote " you kow what you were dong back there"

I said " i guess the corner ?"

"yes , now look - i know these Gt's have a fair bit of power under there - so just take it easy ok ? Whats your lesson here ?"

"Um - dont speed and take corners carefully "

" thats right - now be good and have a good night "

She gets in her car - drives off - im left with a WTF expression, and no fine!

Cops SOMETIMES rule!

all my cop stories are good ones, except one Smile

in 6+ years of driving, I've had only 1 fine.
A miracle, considering my passion for speed Smile

I have a favourite bit of road up on the central coast..80 km limit with nice sweepers but the 80 is the limit when its dry because I just set my cruise control(RX impreza/auto) and practice positioning the car to have the smoothest in and out...2 weeks ago was waved down/stopped and told to "slow down.".what"?? "right on the limit son"??/(I am 56 y.o. and the officer was about 30!!!)...then the other officer gets out of the car...absolutely pissing himself laughing and grabs the first guy and puts him in the car...says sorry to delay you sir I will take this one home now..Its past his bed time.. and then he says..I know exactly what you were/are doing...watch out for the sand truck droppings on the shiney bits on the next left hander..and jumps in and drives away... Cool

Last saturday night: Travelling from a mates place to our regular meeting place. We were going down anzac pde (60 zone) pretty much straight with hardly any building and a huge grass patch that splits the 2way road. We decided to give the cars a bit of a thrash so we ended up getting to 160 Razz . Then see a car zig-zagging in and out of traffic to catch up to us, so we figured 'now we're screwed' so we slow down to 80ish, and stop at the red light.

The car comes up beside us luckily isn't a cop car, so we take off slowly at the lights and he does the same for about 100m, all of a sudden pulls up behind my mate and turned his siren on. It wasnt a commo or falcon...they've started using the VW Beetles (it was undercover car). After a lot of BLAH BLAH BLAH and nearly shitting his pants, mate somehow got his license back Confused
Later found out normal cops can't book you for speeding, only Highway Patrol...thats what some chick who's dad's a cop said...Is this true? Very Happy

My neighbour is a Highway Patrol cop. His name's Tim Britten, and he's a good bloke. See's my dad driving a bit fast in his BMW X5 occasionally and just flashes his lights at him, and alls well. You may know Tim, as he was at the Bali Bombing and he saved like 15 people!!! Bloody heroic. But yeah, he's a good bloke. Although good bloke cops are far and few between...

Have had my share of fines in the past, all deserved (was speeding at each occasion), but the one that I managed to do the best out of was whilst riding a motorbike back home from leave whilst in the RAAF.

Was traveklling from Wagga Wagga (what a great place Rolling Eyes ) to Adelaide, and was typically doing 150 to 160km/hr all the way, and toeards the end, got up to 170 on the South eastern Freeway between Tailem Bend and Adelaide. To set the scene, it was dark, very light rain, been riding for almost 7 hours, and my left rear blinker lens was cracked and mostly missing.

I'm happliy motoring along (had slowed down at this tage to about 140), and I noticed that the hills beside me were flashing. Hmmmmm. Look to my left, and there they are. i dutifully pull over, and be VERY polite and rather sheepish.

"Do you have a good reason for doing 140 km/hr in a 110 zone ?) asks the cop sternly whilst the Crumpledore ticks very noisily in the background (they spotted me 40 kays back, and had spent that time chasing me down !!).

Smartass answers (but politely of course)"Nothing that would get me off", and then go on to explain that I'm heading home from Wagga and just want to get there.

As the cop starts writing down the details, he talks about the fact that he has the same motorbike but without the fairing, and what was it like ?

The end result was that I just got fined for speeding, and not dangerous driving (min 3 months loss of licence and court appearance), and still made it to the bottom of Eagle on the Hill in 7 hours and 15 minutes - 1300km !!!!

Biggest hint from anyone being pulled over, even if they are arseholes, is be Polite, and take note if the shit hits the fan.

They can stuff you around much more than you can them

too bad i'm so stupid and ignorant
cuz i can't see wut about my post makes me such

do you say this of all americans?
few americans will stand up to bullies like i do
hav you ever been assaulted and tortured by a pig like i hav?
the newport beach, california, usa police chief exonerated Officer Terrorist wen i filed a complaint about his need to torture me
a lawyer who wuz suing them for another incident told me wen i asked if he'd help me sue, 'wut are ya gonna get, his house?'
(possible reward in a civil court case)
i found that truly weird and in my opinion stupid
like hiring egomaniac control freaks to police the public

let the punishment fit the crime i say !
if i wuz in government, ALL public officials would be polygraphed
and there would be many programs to alter the status quo, to stop the conditions that cause ordinary peepl from becoming criminals in the first place
gov. should lead, not hinder

I deal with Police, EVERY day, and i have had my fair share of good cops, and arsewipes ( can i swear in here?)( maybe i should not say arsewipes, as arsewipes have feelings too).

Two of the nicest cops i dealt with, were country highway patrol officers. They were nothing like the city ones, who are mostly arrogant individuals, and unfortunately, the females i have encountered in highway have been the worst. But hey, ya get that on big jobs.

One reason the coppers i deal with dont like speeders is that they dont like seeing wasted lives. i.e. having to attend motor vehicle accidents and having to pull out dead people out of what was left of flashy cars. Simple as that.

Their job is not as great as you may think, because not only do they have to deal with live people, they have to deal with the dead, as well as telling family members that their relative is no longer with us. Something i could never do, but heck, someone has to do it.

I've only had the chance to have 1 pleasant experience with the police, that was when I got to drive my friend's R31 (RB20) and we were cruising along and noticed 1 cop car go past, then 1 minute later another one, this is in a small town mind you so there isn't many patrol cars, anyway there's a nice winding section connecting 2 towns together (Ocean Grove & Barwon Heads 60km/limit). It was late so I asked my friend if I can hit boost, he agreed, this was in 2nd with a mini spool, but I was lucky it didn't get tail happy because ANOTHER police car drove past at that time. They turned around and I was pretty much already pulled over before he put the lights on.
Luckly for me I knew the officer, he just simply said "This isn't your car. What are you doing? Do you even know how fast you were going?" I replied with "Umm not really I was too busy holding the wheel"
He pretty much ignored the fact I was speeding and moved onto why the P plates weren't up, which was because it wasn't my car, but my friend was next to me.
Anyway I got fined for the Ps only, very lucky seeming I was going more than twice the speed limit in the matter of seconds.
He pulled me over a week later in my car and we had a good yarn.

i live in wangaratta, NE country VIC. we have bout 18000 odd ppl and we are the no. 1 cop training station in the state. this means that we always have more cops than we need, and there is always new rookies out and about trying to get a big name for themselves by booking as many ppl as possible in their time here... so there is always stories of asshole coppers in this town. that said, we also have some awsome ones here too...
a fair while back, i was with my bro in his shitbox sigma ( thrash and bash car ) and we were doing a fair bit of rallying and we got pulled up by the cops on the way back home, ( bout 4 am on a sat.) when they went over the car, it was pretty bloody obvious wat we had been doing. the young guy, training const, was going right off when the snr const got out and just goes " well, good to see ur learning how to control a car in emergency situations. just make sure u wash that car and clean right up in the guards before anyone else catches u in this condition"
we were both like OMFG did u just see and hear that???!!!!!!!
so there is always some good ones out there. Laughing

Had a good cop experience last week-

Was driving back home in my girlfriend's bright orange '76 BMW from the eastern 'burbs and called her to see if she wanted a lift home from the city. She said she was having work drinks and I should join in.
We spent the next 3 hours at a bar in Southbank and her boss invited everyone back to her apartment near the Vic Markets. I was planning on sobering up for at least a half hour before driving, but somehow was conned into driving 4 people accross the city. We all piled into the car (it's really small) and my girlfriend also managed to squeeze in the bunch of baloons that i had tied to her, which totally blocked my reaward vision. We were about 1 block from the apartment and some lights came on behind us. I couldn't see so I asked the guys in the back what was up and they told me it was an ambulence (it was a van), so I sped up & tried to get out of the way by pulling off the road into a laneway. The siren went on and I shat myself and pulled over (right in front of the apartment)
Cop breathalised me and the stupid thing let out this long 'beeeep'. He says 'That's not a good sound' I gave him my licence and tell him we are stopping here. He took it back to the van and we all sat there in silence.
Cop comes back all smiles and says 'Don't drink drive in a bright orange car'
Couldn't believe my luck- cop was a really nice guy...

Gotta go to the pub now. Think i'll walk.

where i come from, i dont know about colour blind, but descriminatory, yes.
if you were above the age of 30 to 35, you could drive around in a car with no tread on tires, bugger all brakes, no gas left in shocks, cracked springs, no exhaust half way down the car, no handbrake left, and no seat belts and not get pulled over....
i know, my dad did it for like 5 months in his land cruiser ute Laughing Laughing
stupid maybe, dangerous, not so much, as it was never driven at all fast....

but if you had a p plate in your window, within 20 mins of driving up the street, you would be pulled over, and instant roadside roadworthy test...
i know ppl who got 4 canaris in a row, like 2 days after the old one expired, and no changes were made.. no work was needed to get them back on the road, but it still means that ur car is off the road for like a day, and it still costs...
we even got a canari for brakes and suspension bushes when they were replaced just a week prior, and the new roadworthy certificate was still valid...
lets just say that the constable cockhead that did that got a true ass wooping from his superiors, and he was not allowed to bother us unless we were doing something illegal, no random checks were allowed.
the moral of this story, let em fuck with u for a while, untill they make the mistake, then make sure everyone knows about it Very Happy
ps, thats why they are called p plates...

I've had a few good experiences with cops.
First time was after an accident highway patrol came. I was 100% sure I was right till the lady who hit me started yelling after the accident. By the time the cops got there I was blaming myself. The cop took both our stories, gave her a fine and then drove home infront of me because the front end of my car was all smashed in so I had no lights etc.

Second time was after I made an illegal right turn the cop gave me the fine then told me about a little alley way a few meters further up the road that would bring me out in the right place without making the turn.

Another time I got pulled over for an rbt and the young cop starts going on about how my exhaust is too loud (I get this alot) So I pull my pretty piece of paper out of the glove box with the noise test readings on it. He doesnt like this and starts looking around the car, when an older copper comes over. They talk for a couple of minutes then the old guy comes over and says the exhaust has a nice note to it and for me to have a nice night.

I've met the other kind of cop too but theres a few good ones out there

I was caught at 90 in a 60 zone on the most recent double demerit points weekend. I sh!t my pants when I got pulled over because I only have 2 points. The officer saw how genuine and upset I was, gave me a short lecture, breath test and I was on my way. Didn't even check my licence.

I was with dad the other night and I'd managed to con him into to pulling a burnout in his new monaro turning left at an intersection... well dont the LS1's like to light up the tyres... about 50metres up the road he was pulled over for a RBT etc. the officer says "nice car... looks awesome in black.." at this time you can start to see and smell the smoke coming from under the gaurds... the officer obviously notices the smell and has a look around and says "these things must go..." while he's checking the BAC thingo... then says "enjoy your night sir"... i thought it was amazing how he walked over to the gaurds and had a look and smell and made nothing of it... it's interesting to see how an older driver is treated... but we'll be old oneday so i guess everyone gets a turn. Another good cop
