Toyota TRD Celica GT-S wins "Road & Track" showdown. Tue, 27 July 2004 01:33 Go to next message
If you're familiar with america's Road & Track magazine, they recently took a bunch of factory tuned (ie. not aftermarket) cars and pitted them against each other to see which rocked the most. The TRD tuned Celica won.

I'm impressed, for once they don't call the new Celica soft.
Not really a fan of FWDs though, so I'm not ecstatic.

I watched Best Motoring International Vol.7 yesterday. They had a under 200hp touge battle, and they really seemed to like the 7th gen celica. Not so much the looks, but definately the handling :)

The other interesting thing is that was on the video, was a current model mr2 with 2zz-ge which basically seemed as good as the ae86 it was racing against in the final. And it was racing Tsuchia's personal 86. That would have been a brilliant car if toyota gave the option of a 2zz over the 1zz in the new mr2's :/ Would be a easy way for toyota to get back into putting out cars with more of a focus on performance.
