r33 skyline calipers same as s15? Thu, 29 July 2004 08:50 Go to next message
at my work we had an S15 half cut come in today. I asked about the calipers for an r33 and my workmate told me the s15 was the same he thought?

Someone confirm this so i can buy them?
Can i use the discs as well or is the offset all screwed up?

Blake

Aren't the S15 calipers cast and the R33 ones alloy?

They definetly came off an S15? The R32 calipers and early Z32 300ZX calipers are the same. The R33 ones are longer on their mounts to cater for the larger diameter disc.

The bolt spacing for them is the same, as is the height of the rotors, this is the reason most Nissan stuff can be swapped over.

Perhaps it must be a Jap-spec thing. They must be like the R32 Skyline/Z32 300ZX alloy ones then.

They are definetly not the same as the R33 ones though.

R32/Z32 and R33 caliper mount holes are 100mm apart center to center. Fit a MA6x front strut mounts perfect, even the thread patterns on the bolts are the same.

Difference between R32/Z32 and R33 calipers is that the R33 are designed for a larger diameter disc.

MA6x strut, Z31 hub, Z32 caliper and PT Cruiser disc.

I will be getting a set of proper 280x30 Coleman Racing discs soon to be mounted on custom hats that I will design for stock MA6x 4 bolt hubs, MS23 5 bolt hubs and Z31 5 bolt hubs. Easy fit within wheels 15" and up.

A bloke at work has an Aus-spec S15 and it definitely has cast iron calipers. Dunno about JDM S15's though.

From my reserach and understanding, the pads are the same for R32/R33/Z32/WRX and S15.

I thought that the local S15's were cast iron as well (same as subies and some of the late 300Zx ones).

Cheers

Sorry for the delay Blake, but the Z32 300ZX caliper piston is 1.590" in diameter
