Cleaning tools Wed, 28 July 2004 02:32 Go to next message
Hi,

What is the best method/chemical to clean sockets/spanners etc. with mild surface rust?

Also, what to treat/oil them with to stop it reforming? I heard Metholated Spirits is good for this part.

Thanks.

If you're using fuel don't get any on your skin... it contains all sorts of nasty stuff these days.

Your tools should be electroplated. So for them to be rusty they must be old and exposed. You can get the rust of, but it will come back again. You could paint them (but that wont last) or get the tools blasted re electroplated (prob work out better just to buy new tools with the cost of that).

Whats the difference... Benzine, Nicotine, Amphetamine, Dopamine probably all increase the likeliness of getting cancer

The 2J will probably kill you before any of the above do anyway Norbs Razz

a bit off topic
but i reclaimed 3kg's of "tool cleaner" today Very Happy
now all i have to do is 'lose' it before the tradie i was with loses it for me(which would be grossly unfair as i was the poor bastard who had to carry up an extension ladder the reclaim unit and bottle...amongst other farken heavy things)

be good to your tradesman. the 3kgs of 'tool cleaner' you have may be worth more to give to him and let him remember it for when you want them days off early.. leverage is a good thing, thank god I'm finished my time
