Transporting Cars - Interstate

Has anyone had any experience with an car carriers in moving cars interstate?
I'm going to have to move a car from Adelaide to Melbourne and just thought I'd ask the people here to see if anyone has had any experiences doing the same sort of thing. Also, if anyone has done anything similar, how much did it cost you to move the car to your destination?

I got my JZZ30 Soarer shipped from Brissy to Darwin.
Bought it down there and shipped it with TNT. No major hassles. Was pretty exxy. $1300 odd IIRC.
Going the other way is almost half the price!

It might be cheaper for you to fly over and drive it back...

I am looking at shipping a car myself. Was quoted 1000 dollars to move it from Newcastle to Melbourne inside a truck rather than out in the open.

I suggest buying a mid week ticket for about $60 on Virgin Blue, the flight takes less than an hour and you can drive the car back in 8 hours. You could do it in a day and it shouldn't cost more than $200 including fuel and ticket and everything.
Cheers,
Tim
