Ooh well diahatsu and toyota might as well be the same company so toyota probably gave them 75% access to the old 4AGE design Smile

Thats just what it would be if it was a 4AGE with only 3 cylinders.... I have no idea about this 3cyl engine.

These are 993cc turboed beasts making around 80kw.
Whack one into a G11 charade and you got a skyline killer. (G11's weigh about 650kgs) all they need is a decent front mount and up the boost a little and you can be screaming. Actually the GTti's these are out of are only about 700kgs anyway and look a little better (G100 model)

I had a G11 turbo with the shitty carb engine and I accidently revved it past 8000rpm and the only thing that went wrong was the rocker tappet adjusters vibrated loose reducing it to running on 1 cylinder. But these Twin Cam engines are heaps mad as the valves are actuated directly of the cams like rb series engines. So I bet these can rev hard.

my cousin has just put one in his charade... hi flow t28, custom manifolding, microtech, big injectors, large front mount + 100hp of nos. give it a couple of months and we will see how it goes (and how long it lasts)

these motors absolutely hammer in the little charade hatchbacks!

Would anybody have an idea what the model code for one of these engines would be? On the off chance i decided to try to aquire one of these, i dont think "oh, i want a mini 4AGTE" followed by girlish giggles is going to get me far.

The engine code is CB90 if I am not mistaken. Produces 100HP stock. Pretty strong as a stock motor.

The GTt-i and GTt-x were mainly sold in the Japanese domestic market. The GTti was sold in the UK. A few have been imported to Aus as well.

Have driven quite a few of these and they are a pretty quick car! Handles pretty well too.

Fun car!

With twin cams, 12 valves, EFI, air-to-air intercooler and a (large-ish) turbo, the CB70/80 is good for 78kW at 6500 rpm in standard form! Further to this, simple boost, intake and exhaust mods can easily give another 35% power.

This potent hi-tech engine was based on the early '80s CB60 SOHC carby turbo engine, which made a then-impressive 50kW.

Correct! I have seen one rev to 9500RPM. I was in the passenger seat. A 3cylinder Twin Cam with a relatively big for its size (RHB5) Turbo @ 7500RPM+ has a sound like no other. You fall in love with it Very Happy

No, CB70. No, 105BHP. Yes, Forged Pistons and very meaty crank are its key.

GTti & GTxx were jap market. Some GTti's went to Europe/UK and used a slighty different engine (emissions & detuned) called a CB80. 25 GTti's were brought into Australia. 6 are left registered in Australia. I have one of them.
