Someone with EPC please help Wed, 11 August 2004 00:38 Go to next message
I am looking for the part number for a plug.

4 pin plug that plugs into the distributor on a 2JZGE. Can come from a JZA80 or a JZS131 - doesn't matter which.

Cheers Dave.

Actually Witzl, access denied is all I see when I go to the Russian page.

Now I have downloaded the Euro EPCs - I have extracted the files to a new folder - what on earth do I do with them now? I read somewhere that there is an executable required? What is that and where is that file? Is it just an .exe file?

1) Make sure you unzip the files before burning. I know it
sounds stupid but somebody will do it.
2) The files have been zip straight off the CD so make sure
your directory structure is right for the burn.

(IF YOU DON'T USE THE RIGHT VOLUME LABELS THE CDS WON'T WORK)

3) The EPC1.zip files should be burned to a CD with the label
"19950622E1"
4) The EPC2.zip files should be burned to a CD with the label
"19950322E2"
5) Setup and installation notes are in EPC1.zip in the
EPC\readme.txt file

put the
the images onto CDs in order to run the program. Make sure the volume labels
on the CDs are 19950622E1 for EPC1.zip and 19950322E2 for EPC2.zip. If you
don't have the right volume labels on the CDs the program will install but,
won't run properly.
Once you have the CDs, run the "setup.exe" program in the "EPC" directory
on 19950622E1. Leave all of the options as default. If you have more than one
CD-ROM drive go ahead and set it up during installation.
Once the installation is finished, run "EPC for windows" from the start
menu. Select CD setup from the main menu. Select CD setup from the second
menu. Next check the European area version check box. Next click the add
button in the European area version box. You will be presented with a change
status dialog box. select CD-ROM from the radio buttons and highlight the "A1
CD-ROM" and "A2 CD-ROM" choices in the list box (use the shift key). Then
click the OK button. Next press F10. The program will prompt you for both CDs
during the setup phase. Once the setup is completed, press F3 to return to the
main menu.

Hmmm...have to go to work now.

I didn't realise I'd have to burn the files to CD to make it all happen.

Seems like a job for tonight!

Dedicated to bandwidth and Supras!

Current files available for leeching

Japanese EPC program, with the 1JZ, 1G and other exotic engines. Two CD ISO files, unpack and burn as raw CD image (2048 bytes). This is the 1997 version.

I've had an email that these jap cd's don't contain the EPC executable. What I did is use the regular export (European) executable of the EPC program.

If you don't have the EPC program, because you haven't had any EPC cd, you need to download the EPC installation which is down here as well (last link).

Download here:

CD IMAGE 1 [268 Meg]

CD IMAGE 2 [256 Meg]

EPC program:

EPC ZIP FILE [4.5 Meg]

A big yahoo thank you buddy, to my friend Geoff Mohler for hosting these files! Have fun

If you don't want to burn a CD, just grab one of those CD emulators (do a search on Tucows or similar). That way you can create a "virtual CD" from a folder on your hard drive, and the EPC software will think it's running off a CD.

Has anyone found a more stable front end to the EPC?

and it is just me, or is the Mark II broken in the Japan Area (A1/A2) EPC Catalogue?

Dave,

I've done a search but they don't seem to list the replacement connector you're after, only the complete harness.
