if you ask at a dodgey used car yard then bannana skins! they fix all the rattles and clunks of gearbokes and CV's for the first week. therefore extending the life by 1 week. Very Happy

I think the correct answer to the question would be:
-"Friction Modifiers"
-"Anti foaming agents"
-"Anti Sludging agents"

the above additives are all mixed with the oil as the oil is being made... it would be unwise to add ANYTHING to your gearbox oil that wasn't put there by the oil manufacturer unless you yourself are an industrial chemist and know the exact composition of the oil you are messing around with!

yeah it's a bit of a shocker... the same as you shouldn't mix synthetic and mineral oils... or put ATF in your manual gearbox!
bad f'ken idea IMHO

once when me and a mate were replacing the gearbox in his charade (bout the 3rd time) some dodgy mechanic dude (aint they all hehehe) in smith feild told us to use thick engine oil to see if that would some the gear fusing together (like heating up and fusing together CRAZY hehehe)
anyways i was like ok well try that NOOOOT
anyways my mate tried it and the gear box still fried.
